“ I still can’t believe I have been sitting here with you since the past 1 hour. That’s the longest I have tolerated someone. Congratulations for the new record.” Jed said.
“Well, what can I say, I am lovable.”
“ So what do you suggest we do next?”Jed asks.
“ I see someone’s keen on spending time with an ‘annoying’ person.” Kayra says.
“Nope. I just think you might be a better entertainment than my th- uh my maths tutor. I’d do anything to escape him.”
“I’m honoured. So let’s play ‘I remember.’ It’s a game where in you need to tell me one memory you have, related to any object or person, that you can see here.”
“Lame.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Wait. I’ll go first. I remember that the guy sitting in front of me has to be with a maths tutor at the moment, and so I would leave.”
“Ugh. Okay you win.”
“YES! Start.”
“Okay umm I remember my first date. It was at a coffee shop. Let’s just say, I didn’t go on a date for almost 5 months after that.” Jed says.
“That bad?”
“Disaster.”
“Well mine was no better. I remember my first date. We went to this fancy restaurant and the guy chewed his food as if it was gravel and he spoke with his mouth full of food an-”
“Wait how is this related to anything here?” Jed asks.
“Well the guy was a jerk, like the one sitting in front of me.”
“Mine was an idiot, just like you.” Jed replied.
“Hey! I know exactly what we can do. Let’s re-create our previous disastrous dates.” Kayra says enthusiastically.
“And why exactly would I do that with you?”
“Scared you won’t be able to match my level Mr. Jed?”
“ Game’s on Stone.”
_____________________________“This Arcade game zone is so AMAZING. I can’t believe you wouldn’t have fun on a date HERE.” Kayra says.
“When the girl wouldn’t touch a thing in the fear of ruining her nails, you can’t do much. Not everyone is like you, Kayra.”
“That’s sweet. Thanks Jed.”
“Oh! I just meant a homeless hobo looking like crazy person.”
“ Keep telling yourself that, Jed.”
_____________________________“ You came to a ‘picnic park’ for a date? With a guy? Really?” Jed asks.
“I let him choose the place. Worst decision ever. He kept talking about how beautiful the weather is, how the flowers are blooming, how happy everyone is, heck he even said ‘we’ll bring our kids here one day.’”
“Hahahahaha. He didn’t name them? How long was the date?”
“20 minutes and 35 seconds. Record.”
“But we’ve been here for 2 hours.”
“Company, Jed. Company.”
________________________________“ You have a great house, Jed.”
“My dad does. Here’s your wine.”
“ Thanks. Hey! That’s a lovely guitar. Is that a Hofner? Do you play it?” Kayra asks.
“Not anymore.”
“Why?”
“Something has happened in everybody’s life, that will not let them be the same person they once were.”
“True. Anyway I was thinking, we’ve not had the perfect date yet.”
“Really? We’ve gone for bowling, gaming, treasure hunt, coffee shops, restaurants, picnics, movies, laser tag, even a double date. We know each other quite a bit since 2 months, and as much as I hate to admit it, I had a great time. What’s left to be perfect?”
“I’ll show you. Come on.”
