Slowly I put the small silver circlet in my hair and fix it so that it can’t fall down. I add some lipstick, not too bright, then some lip gloss for the effect and walk three steps backwards to watch myself in the mirror.
- Perfect, - I whisper, turning firstly to left and after to the right side.
- Darling, you look absolutely beautiful! - My Dad says entering the small room of mine, followed by my mother.
A little smile appears on my face as I see how proud he looks, but this immediately fades, when I notice my mom being up to cry.
- Mom, don’t. It’s a beautiful day, it’s not worth to be cried over. I don’t want to cry, you know. But I can’t stand seeing you cry. Please, mom.
She nods, wiping some tears away. A smile appears on her face, making me smile as well. Today, everything she ever wanted happens - her daughter gets married to the man she loves and gets loved by. Today is my big day, because I am becoming the wife of the love of my life.
- Hurry up, your fiance is already waiting for you, darling.
And then they leave. Mom will already go to the church, where the ceremony is going to take place. Meanwhile, dad will wait for me downstairs. He’s is the one who brings me to the location and finally leads me to the altar, handing his little girl over to her fiance.
But for now, I should not think about the ceremony already, but quickly get finished. I don’t know how late I am, but actually I don’t even care. I really wanna be perfect for him and therefor I will take all time I need. I know, he will understand this.
I check myself one last time in the mirror and then take a deep breath. It’s about time to leave. I grab my clutch purse, where I put some tissues and my lipstick in, and, before I finally get in my shoes, add some perfume. Then, I am ready to get married.
I carefully take step by step, going downstairs. The stairs are quite steep, so, I hold fast onto the handrail, making sure that I don’t fall. Then I again see the proud glance of my dad.
- I still can’t believe that it’s time to letting you go, sweetheart.
- I can’t believe, either, dad, - I admit and hug him tight. - It’s all so surreal, this dress, my appearance, what you’re looking like… the whole day is just so…
- Unbelievable?
- Exactly.
We smile to each other before he offers me his arm to link it with mine. I gladly accept it and walk through the door frame with him by my side. Our car is decorated with flowers and white ribbons, matching to the event. He holds the door of the back seat open for me and closes it after I got in. Then he walks over to the driver’s seat and sits down, fastening the belt.
- Are you ready?
I nod and he starts the motor and drives into the direction of the church. During the ride my heartbeat gets faster and faster with every second passing, I get shaky with every breath I am taking and my thoughts about the ceremony won’t fade anymore.
How will he be looking? Which colour does his suit has? How did he style his hair? What colour does the bouquet has? Is he as nervous, as I am? Will he cry when he sees me for the first time?
- Darling? Are you listening?
- Sorry Dad, I’ve been absent with my thoughts.
- It’s fine. I know that you’re quite excited. But listen to me. Enjoy this day like it’s your last day. Today, everyone is only paying attention on two persons - you and your man. There isn’t anyone as important as you. It’s your day, you’re the main act, the princess. And he’s the one who will take care of you by now.
For me it’s quite hard, to be honest. I am letting my daughter go to another man, who has to keep her safe. And I know that he will. He’s a good boy. You can be proud that you found him. Because I am proud as well. His voice slightly breaks down in the end of his small speech, making me tear up. It’s tough, holding it back, but I kinda get through it and force a smile. I really don’t know what to answer, so I just keep silent and close my eyes, counting the seconds until we arrive.

I slowly take one step after another. I smile widely whilst not taking my eyes off my fiance. He looks absolutely handsome. Everything is matching. The hairstyle, the suit, the buttonhole. Just everything.
My dad is tightening the grip around my arm, holding me a little closer. I guess he’s scared that I might fall. But I know I won’t. He’s with me, he takes care of me. And when we walk ten meters forward, he will pass me to my man, so that he can look after my safety. And he will.- Wow, you look so… wow, - he whispers as he takes my hand, turns me quickly around and then pulls me closer, slightly pecking my cheek.
- I love you.
- I love you, too. And now let’s get married, I am really wanting to change your last name, - he smiles stupidly, making me giggle a little. Yes, that’s my fiance. And I can’t wish any better.
- We are here today in the presence of family and friends to share with Bride and Groom the most important moment in their lives, - the wedding minister says after we sat down on our chairs. - We do this as the legal requirement to be married in Spain but this ceremony does not alter the love required to be husband and wife. Without the love between these two people we would not be here today.
A first tear runs down my cheek and I quickly take a tissue. I really don’t wanna ruin my make-up, I don’t wanna look like a witch all day long.
- What is marriage? It has been said that marriage is that relationship between man and woman in which the independence is equal, the dependence mutual and the obligation reciprocal. [y/n] and Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, you are now to bring together the best parts of your individuality, uniting spirit, talent and experience to create something better than either of you alone can offer. You must, and I’m sure, you will work hard to maintain this union.
At this point, I don’t really listen anymore. I try to keep myself calm, because I don’t want to sound like a dying horse because of all my tears and sobs. I start thinking about the time we shared before this day.
About how we met, when he was only visiting a good friend and I accidentally showed up, too. How we confessed our love to each other. When we shared our first kiss. All those beautiful moments keep replaying in my mind and bring to another world.- Love?, - he whispers, looking a little worrying, but then beginning to smile. - It’s your turn now.
I smile, standing up at the same time like him and quickly fix my dress. Then I start.
- I, [y/n], take you, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love, - my voice cracks down. I take a deep breath, before I continue. - I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.
A small tear runs over my cheek, but just as I want to wipe it away, he carefully takes my head in his hands and kisses it. He pulls away, smiling proudly at me and then ramble his eyes to the wedding minister, waiting for the allowance for his vow.
- I, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, take you, [y/n], to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.
We smile at each other and then turn back to the minister, waiting for the moment of our both’s life. It’s only seconds away by I start my new own life. This only happens once in a lifetime.
- I now pronounce you husband and wife. You can kiss the bride now.
And he does.
