Chapter One:
I woke up this morning, something I didn’t want. My life is full of regrets, horrors, and I’m surrounded by stupidity. My mom and dad recently divorced, so now I have to move in with my dad all the way in California because my mom is too “busy” for me. This means, new school, new environment, and new friends. Wait, did I just say friends? I’m sorry I didn’t mean too because I usually get none. People around me usually feel obligated to make fun of me, and call me names. I’m not what you call a, ‘handsome’ boy. I’m a fifteen year old boy, named Evan, with black hair, that covers most my face at all times. Blue and narrow eyes, with a crooked nose right under.
When I woke up my dad was already downstairs, fighting with my mom about something that has to do with me. I like how I’m the root of their problems and yet I do nothing. I walked down the stairs and entered the kitchen. They immediately stopped fighting, nice. “Hello, good morning honey.” My mom said.
“Mmm” I said to my mom, suddenly becoming interested in the kitchen cabinet. I just did that because I didn't want to make eye contact with my dad or anyone.
“Are you ready to go to California son?” My dad said coming behind me.
“Eh” I say walking away with my head down. I can tell my dad rolled his eyes because he also moved away. I laughed lightly and turned around. My mom was on her phone, checking her emails, doing work like always.
My dad was already coming down the stairs with my suitcase. “Can I get a hand here son?”
I walked over and stared at him for about a minute. Then, I just clapped my hands. He did ask for a hand right?
“What are you doing?”
“You asked for a hand right?” I smirked a little and took my suitcase and walked out the door. I didn’t even bother saying goodbye to my mom. She walked past my dad and ran out the house.
I was just about to open the door when my mom spun me around and hugged me. “Goodbye sweetheart, I love you.”
I dropped the hug and stared at her and said, “If you really love me why are you sending me away with him?”
I looked over and my dad was walking towards the car. By the time she looked back I was already in the car with my earbuds in.
The drive to California took about a day or so. It was very silent the whole way to my dad’s place. By the time we got there it was already dark. My dad parked in the driveway and a woman with really thick eyebrows came out. I could feel my face turn red with anger. I looked at my father and started walking back to the car.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me back next to him. “Smile for now. I’ll explain everything later.”
“Yep, have a fake smile like always.” I took my arm back and smiled.
