Amy was just a normal little girl, in a normal house, in a normal little town
Until that day.
Amy was pouring some juice into her cup when she heard a loud noise from the chimney. It sounded as if someone came in, but from the chimney instead of the front door.
Amy went to the fireplace to find out what was the noise. She thought her father had placed some new logs in there but remembered that her father went to work while her mother was attending a charity event in the park. Scared, she grabbed a knife and slowly walked to the chimney.
When she reached the chimney, she dropped the knife in shock. A redheaded girl, about her age, was sitting on the logs. Her school robes were stained and her face was white and worn out.
"Just great, transported to some person's house instead of home. Stupid Jynx," the girl muttered under her breath. Amy noticed a small dragon-like creature with wings too big for itself. It grunted and and bit the redhead's hand. Amy supposed it was Jynx.
The redhead looked up. Though her finger was bleeding, she did not seem that she cared. Instead, she chanted," Shonsodetelia!" Green light appeared around her finger and it was as good as new. Jynx folded its arms and sat on the redhead's palm.
"Ma-magic?" Amy splurtered out. The girl nodded, her green eyes full of enthusiasm. However, it soon turned to fear. The girl remembered that she was banned from using magic until her eighteenth birthday. "You've gotta come with me. Pack your bags and let's go." Amy, confused, did what she was told and brought her stuff down in a grey suitcase. When the girl saw Amy, she grabbed her arm and whispered her home address to Jynx. Red light flashed before them.
Soon, they were transported to a messy cottage. Jackets and rags were draped on the dining chairs, muddy footprints were on the stairs, and the beds upstairs had their blankets unmade.
Amy was even more confused. Where was she? Was she safe? These questions swarmed in her mind as she stared at the house.
Just then, a blond woman walked into the room. She was carrying a tray of food when she saw Amy. The tray dropped out of her hands along with the food.
"Oh, I'm sorry, dear. It's just... Lerra doesn't bring friends bring school often. She didn't tell me she'll bring a friend for Remembrance Day," the woman said.
Amy stared at her, confused. It's just a dream, she whispered to herself. There is no such thing as magic.
The woman waited for a reply. However, when she realized Amy had no clue about what was going on, her green eyes filled with fury. "Lerra Blooming Crookers! Get your bum down here right now!"
The redheaded girl, who Amy learned that name was Lerra, came down.
"DID YOU USE MAGIC IN FRONT OF A HUMAN?" Mrs Crookers, the blond woman, shouted.
Lerra nodded, her eyes full of tears.
"MS CROOKERS, THIS IS TOO MUCH! WE NEED TO GO TO THE WIZARDING COURT FOR YOUR USE OF MAGIC HEARING! NOW I'VE GOT ONE MORE KID TO TAKE CARE OF!"
Just then, a blue fairy with white spots on her cheeks came in. She was holding a letter. The envelope was hastily sealed with a sticker labeled in big bold letters, 'GOVERNMENT' . Words slowly appeared on it, reading 'FOR MISS LERRA CROOKERS, NO. 2 GIZZARD STREET, LONDON.'
Lerra took the letter and read it out loud for everyone to hear.
Dear Miss Lerra Crookers,
May we say that you had used magic out of Emerald, though you were banned. Please come to the court at 9.05AM next Friday for your hearing. If you fail to come, you would be expelled from Emerald: Teaching Perfect Witchcraft And Wizardy. Thank you for your co-operation.
Zack
Mayor Of Misuse Of Magic
"YOU SEE, LERRA? I TOLD YOU!" Mrs Crookers said as the fairy flew away.
Lerra fell onto the floor and burst into tears.
Suddenly, the door was banged open by six people. They were wearing shirts saying,'Jaea'.
"Hey Li, can you come for Jaea practice tonight?" a girl with brown hair who was taller than the rest asked.
"Sorry dears, but Lerra is grounded until next week. Surely you can practice then, right?" Mrs Crookers asked.
"Urgh! I wish too, but the match is tomorrow!" the girl exclaimed.
Mrs Crookers was struck by an idea. She pushed Amy to the team. "Maybe she can be the replacement for now?"
The girl asked for Amy's name and Amy introduced herself. The girl hesitated, but agreed after much thought. "Okay, Miss Replacement, let's do it!"
