Alarms blare. Flashes of red blasts around the room, and Blue Diamond jerks up, eyes alert.

It all happens in a rush. Sounds of something being knocked over, yells and screams, and then silence.

Blue Diamond leaves the room, and once again Blue Pearl follows behind her. Gems of different kinds are all strewn over the floor, some beaten up, others retreating into their forms to regenerate. They will be executed, Blue Pearl knows with a wince, for not doing their jobs well.

"It must be the Pearl," Her Diamond seethes, and then they sprint down the hallways, passing by more and more gems until they skid to a stop in front of a Pearl.

The Pearl is panting heavily. Injured, yes. Tired, very. Giving up? Most definitely not. In her hands hold spears, and Blue Diamond commands what is left of her army to chase after her.

The Pearl jumps in huge, elegant leaps that lands on the walls and floor with perfect precision. Blue Diamond also goes after her, and Blue Pearl continues to keep up with her master.

Then she stops.

The Pearl is surrounded. Her spears are gone, and she is too tired to summon any more.

What happens next is a blur.

Blue Pearl rushes up to summon her weapon, a slim sword and remembers all the times she has seen this Pearl fighting and rebelling and being free-

I want to be free, too.

Then Blue Pearl stabs her sword, parries and defends herself against blows and punches. It all happens so fast, and once realization dawns on Blue Diamond, her eyes are filled with rage and fire.

The Pearl behind her is stunned. She gasps, and then a smile spreads on her face.

They run away, together, and for the first time ever, Blue Pearl feels free. She feels the wind rushing up against her, but she pushes it back, and she sprints towards the landing port, where all the ships are located. She drags the Pearl behind her, who is howling with laughter.

"Where are you taking us?!"

"We're escaping," Is all Blue Pearl could say. The loud, thundering footsteps roars from behind, but they keep running, keep moving forward, and then they are in the landing port. Pods and ships line the docking area, and Blue Pearl pushes her and the rebellious Pearl inside the ship. A press of a few buttons, and they are off, to Earth.

"What was that?!" Pearl says, her face lit up with delight and thrill.

"I don't- I didn't want to be a normal Pearl, I guess," Blue Pearl says shyly, and then Pearl hugs her. She has never been hugged, ever in her life, but she returns the embrace, welcoming and warm.

"Thank you," She says. "You saved me."

"Actually, you did." Blue Pearl admits, rubbing her knuckles. "When I saw you rebelling, I felt- I don't know what I felt, but I needed to be free, to have- to have this sense of freedom."

"Well, you've certainly come to the right place," Pearl grins, and Blue Pearl grins back. Blue Pearl feels a rush of excitement in her chest, of being seen this way, of being seen like this, by another Pearl.

Stars zip past behind them as they travel off into galaxies, Blue Pearl's hands around the controls.

Her hands are not sore. They are shivering with sheer exhilaration.

They are never, ever going to be clasped, her hands will never clasp ever in her whole entirety of her life.
