[1990's]
a young woman throws her hands in frustration demanding her children to get out of the kitchen. both runaway sniffling at the harsh words their mother yelled out to them. "Mommy... mommy's mad!!," the little boy says loud enough for the mother to hear. the mother throws a spoon at the wall yelling in frustration as her children run from the violence.
the front door opens, their expressions look overjoyed but hastily they both run towards their bedrooms. "Kids?" the man questions as he puts his bag on the floor.
"Darling?" he walks into the kitchen seeing the woman in a distress. she looks at him, visibly stressed expression explains it all, "David, I told you from the beginning I couldn't handle children. Now we have two brats who won't even keep quiet! All they do is cry, yell, shit, and whine all the fucking time. i am tired of it," she began to cry out. tears spurting out of her eyes, her hands forming a small fist. david sighs, shaking his head.
"I told you to give it time, Wendy," he paused for a moment seeing the distressed woman shake her head laughing. "I never wanted children, I never wanted those brats. You're the one who convinced me, you're the one who told me you'll take care of them while I worked. But look at us now David, you work all day and I slave away to them. I can't stand them, I only enjoy them when they shut up and leave me alone. What don't you get? I love you David, I do... but I just can't." Wendy threw her rag on the floor, David scrunched his eyebrows walking slowly to her, "Wendy..."
Wendy shook her head, "No, David, I can't do this anymore. It's over, they arent my kids. I just wanted a life with you! Not them, you can't force me to love and care for them when they aren't even mine!" wendy shouted out at the top her lungs, the little boy shuts the door harshly walking sadly over to his baby sister.
david covers wendy's mouth, "don't say things like that, you know they can hear you." he frantically says, wendy hastily removes his hand, "i don't care! i don't love them! i can't stand them! it's over!" she yells once again storming out of the kitchen.
wendy stormed out of the room and into their bedroom, "wendy!" david yelled out. wendy pulls out a suitcase from their closet, beginning to throw in the essentials "i'm leaving, this time it's serious!" wendy shouts. the children in the other room are covering their ears, quietly shedding tears. david angrily takes the suitcase away from wendy, "no you can't just storm off! calm down, you're scaring the children!" david yells out, tossing the suitcase to the side.
wendy now in a rage pool of tears shoves david to the side with all her force, david stumbles "fuck your children, you don't even care about how i feel! it's always the kids this, the kids that, well i exist too david!" wendy throws a vase at david's head, her aiming a bit off. david stands in a daze as she grabs the rest of her belongings and stuffs them into a bag. wendy storms out of the room.
"i'm done!" once again she yells out, the children now hiding inside a closet while their father storms after the woman outside. neighbors seem to peak out their windows. "wendy please! comeback home, the neighbors are watching. lets just calmly discuss this." david says calmly while looking around.
"no david! fuck talking! i don't want this life anymore. i'm over it! i'm over you, i'm over the kids, i'm done. goodbye!! the neighbors can be my witness to leaving!" wendy shows, smiling at every window she could catch. david now furious, "wendy stop acting like a child"
"fuck you!" wendy now realizing she forgot the car keys, she sighs to herself. "well looks like i'm going to walk into town until i can get a cab" she whispers to herself realizing her stupidity too late. she was determined to leave this time, "wendy!" david shouts once again, wendy continues to walk towards the highway, throwing up the middle finger to her ex.
the children still in the closet, holding each other while david storms in, "kids, come out we're going on a ride!" he shouts while grabbing his car keys. the children stay huddled up together in the closest, david walks into their room, opening the closet door. "come on," he gently said while picking them up. "daddy...why is mommy mad?" the little boy asked while the girl hid her face against her father's chest. david sighed, "she's just stressed, don't worry too much about it" he muttered closing the door behind him. he placed them on the ground opening the car door for them, "up you guys go," he excitedly said before strapping them both in.
he goes into the drivers seat and starts speeding over to the highway where wendy is seen walking on the pedestrian side, he honks once and wendy sticks her middle finger up "let me be!" she shouts while dragging her suit case up the hill. "wendy, darling please!"
"fuck you!" wendy yelled out walking up, david slowed down the ride of the car while the children looked at each other. this wasn't something new to them, it was something that occurred at least twice a month.
"wendy.." david said while wendy stopped for a moment now reaching the peak. "david, stop, this isn't going to be like other times, i'm done." wendy said while looking at david. "wendy, darling please we can talk it out" he halts the car, turning on the standby signals "stay in the car, i'll try to make things better" he says to his children before stepping out of the car. the roads seemed to be quiet with a few cars passing by. two shades covering the windows where his children sat, they looked at each other. "cole.." the little girl mumbled out.
"go away david." wendy said once again, "darling, please" wendy shook her head, tears now visibly falling from her face. she took a step back, looking behind her, the jump didn't seem deadly.
"s-step back!" she said, the tension in the air was undeniable as david took a step closer, "stop! david, just let me go!" wendy yelled out once again, "please" david said. in the distance a black suv slowly drives up.
david took a step closer to wendy, wendy steps back now at the edge. she holds her luggage tightly, "darling, you're going to fall!" david yells, his arm extending to grab the his woman. "david, don't-" wendy without realizing the step she took back was one fatal step. she lost her footing, the weight of her luggage took a toll on her, she fell over the tall bridge. david staring in disbelief, he stood there unable to move a muscle, the dark suv pulls up to the scene.
the children in the car unable to see a thing stay seated, fidgeting inside the car. a tall, buff man steps out of the car, a sly smirk appears on his face. he makes his way to the distraught man in front of his view. "well, what a scene," he claps his hands together. david turns to see him in horror, "i-i d-didn't m-mean to-"
the man shook his head, "ah the cops won't believe a single word you say, what's going to happen to your kids?" the man says in a taunting tone, "i- sir-" once again david is caught off, "tell you what, i am feeling pretty generous today, why don't i clear up this little mess for you... just for a small fee afterwards?" he said taking out a business card from his pocket. david stood there, "what?" he managed to get out before the man placed the car in his hand.
"don't worry about a thing, you just drive off. put your kids to bed and tomorrow you give me a call to settle everything. sound good?" the man said, placing a hand on david's shoulder. david felt a bit intimated by the man in front of him, he nodded and slowly walked over to his car. he walked in, "daddy!" his daughter shouted as he got into the driver's seat , david half smiled placing his hand on the steering wheel.
he looked to his side, he saw three buff men around the bridge area, the man he spoke with, well rather spoke to him, seemed to be giving orders. the other three men began to walk near the bridge, a small boy came into view as david started to drive slowly away. the man waved off david in the distance, his smile never leaving his face.
david sensed a bit of trouble, unable to figure if what he did was a huge mistake.
