I woke up to the sound of someone humming softly. I sat upright and looked around, only to find that I am the only one in the cubicle. After checking the time(much to my dismay, it was 9:15 already) I reluctantly slid out of bed and went to find Madam Pomfery. I remembered Dumbles telling me to go down the left hall and knock on the third door to the right, so that's exactly what I did. The door opened immediately, and I saw a petite woman fast asleep on her desk, snoring quietly. She looked so peaceful, but I only had 10 minutes until breakfast. I walked over and gently shook her shoulder only to have her bolt upright and we knocked heads. "Ow" I thought. "That went well, I suppose."

"Oh I'm so sorry dear, I didn't mean to knock into you like that. I must have fallen asleep while finishing up my paperwork, oops. Oh well..." She rambled to herself before asking me;
"I assume you are Ms. Amelie?"

I nodded my head. I would have to ask Dumbles for a notepad or something to communicate with others, as this was getting quite annoying. Nobody ever spoke to me much back home, so not being able to communicate is getting quite annoying.

"Alrighty then. Here are your robes, I can shrink them to your size if needed. The bathroom is the second door to the left, and I'm pretty sure Professor Dumbledore has taken care of all your school supplies. Hurry now, I'll let the rest of the staff know you may be a bit late to breakfast."

I smiled and nodded my thanks before making my way to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I realized I had absolutely no idea where to go next. I decided I could try and be independent and find the room myself.

I soon learned that this was a terrible idea.

I ended up running into about 3 house elves, and then I finally got knocked down after running into a large man with lots of facial hair and a big, toothy grin on his face.

"Sorry, miss. Didn' see ya there. Need a han'?" He asked.
I nodded and held out my hand. He pulled me up with such force, I fell into him again.
"Sorry! Don' know me own strength, I s'pose. You alrigh'?"
I nodded again and smiled. I mimed eating breakfast and held out my hands as if to ask, " Where do I go?"
He seemed to understand, as he proceeded to introduce himself as Rubeus Hagrid, Gamekeeper of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and told me to follow him. I did, and walked into the biggest, grandest room I've ever seen.
"This here is the Great Hall. This is where you'll be takin' all yer meals, as well as a couple exams towards the end o' the year." Rubeus Hagrid explained. "Come sit with me here, an' help yerself to the
food." I did that, and Dumbles came over to me.
"Come on over to the lake; you can feed the Giant Squid if you like. Then go help Hagrid finish trimming the grass on the quidditch pitch. The other students will be here for dinner, as well as the sorting. As you will be entering your second year here, you have the choice to be sorted with the first years at the Sorting Ceremony, or I can sort you privately after lunch. It's completely up to you, Ms. Amy.
"I'd like to be sorted with the first years, if that's ok. Also, do you have a notepad or a whiteboard so I can communicate with others, and tell the rest of the staff that I can't speak? It's rather awkward when they ask me a question..." I thought to him, trailing off at the end.

"Absolutely, Ms. Juniper. I just so happen to have a whiteboard in my cloak, right...." he thought for a moment, and rummaged around in his many pockets. "...here. " He pulled out a medium-size whiteboard and held out three colored markers for me to choose from. I picked blue and smiled my thanks. I ran down to the Black Lake and spent the morning watching the merpeople and the Giant   Squid 🐙 splash around. I heard Hagrid calling me in for lunch, and I then went to help him trim the quidditch field. Before I knew it, the other kids had arrived and it was time to be sorted.
