(Sorry it's so short. This is just the Prologue. This is about 706 words all together.)

•••••••••••••Prologue••••••••••••

"Miss White, can you tell me everything that happened at the party last night?"

I stared warily at the detective. He was slightly plump, around 6'1 with a badge that had 'Mr. Chard' encrusted in silver. He was very intimidating for my 5'2 1/2 figure.

"Well... I showed up around ten with my friend Bailey." I watched as he jotted down everything I was saying.

"We were in the garage because it was one of the quieter places in the house." I felt myself going back to that dreadful night as I retold the story.

"Who's we? You and Bailey?" Officer Chard questioned.

"Bailey, Maxine, Andrew, Dillion and I were all in the garage." I specified. He nodded for me to continue.

"We heard noises but didn't think anything of it. I mean, it was a loud party so we just brushed it off as sounds from the party." I swallowed deeply, calming myself.

"When we heard screams and cries we started to question what was happening." My eyes watered a bit.

"We all agreed that the sounds we're coming from the other part of the garage so Dillion and I said we'd go check it out." I started to breath shakily.

"When we went over to the other side, Anthony, a boy from our school, was dead." At this point I was full on crying.

"His body had been slashed by a knife repeatedly. He was hanged from the ceiling with a thick rope that was giving him visible rope burns." My head was buried in my hands. Sobs were leaking from the spaces between my fingers.

After I was allowed to be dismissed, I just sat at the curb. Big mistake. I know now that I should have just went home...

•••••••••••One week earlier•••••••••

"Two more victims were murdered last night, police are still on search for the unidentified thief." The news anchor said with a kind of cheery, kind of sad

voice.

I guess after her long years of being a news reporter she had become used to blocking out sad news.

I, being a young teen, was not greatly affected by the news. I had grown up in a community that wasn't rich but was never really harmed, or not as much harm was done to the neighborhood to reach the news. We were normal people going about our normal lives doing normal things. No murders of such.

My mom sighed. "This is just horrible, these murders have been happening for weeks." She tisked and went back to cooking. "Can you imagine how their parents feel? Those poor people."

I looked at my mom and smiled weakly before going back to texting Bailey. We were talking about the party that was coming up on Friday night.

"Dinner is ready!" my mother called. I rushed to the kitchen and served myself on a paper plate before sitting down at the table across from my mom.

"Do you know when Daddy is supposed to come home?" I asked in a quite childlike fashion.

"No honey, you know he is probably out gambling." My mom didn't even try to sugarcoat it. I'm twenty and for practically my entire life my dad hasn't been around.

He never bought me birthday presents or really contributed to the family in any type of way. He is unemployed and uses money he borrows from my mother and I to by lottery tickets. My mom is struggling to hold down a job. She works as a school teacher and I help her pay for things by working as a waitress.

As a kid, my mom was able to sometimes afford to get me nice things which help me appreciate how hard she worked for me. I now realise that I need to take care of her.

"All done! Okay mom, I'm gonna go get some rest. I love you!" I said finishing up.

"Alright, goodnight sweetheart."

"Good night mom."

I feel like then, was just the beginning.
