Grace Within: Part One

Prelude

It was cold and dark. Something you could expect from a basement. There was one small light, bright and hung from its cords. A wooden chair sat underneath, a woman with white-silver hair tied to it. Her skin was black, blue, purple, and red from the assaults of her captors. They had kidnaped her off the streets when she was eight. A little girl who walking home from school and they just grabbed her. She couldn't remember much, just her name, Blair Kate.

There were five people surrounding her, one witch and five lower class demons. She had come to know this over the seventeen years she had been here. The witches name was Gem, and Vince, the leader of the demons, was her lover. Then there was Kase, Gamble, Juniper, and Cody. Cody was tasked with caring for her, since he was the weakest and youngest. The demonling was relatively kind and gentle with her, he said he was "Afraid of breaking her". She had come to understand why he stayed with his kin, even if he didn't agree with them.

But he wasn't there. She was with the others. They were circling her. Blair felt the dark eyes of her captors glaring holes into her back. Gem emerged for the shadows a book in one hand, a dagger in the other. Blair's eyes widened in shock. They had done this ritual many times before but there was never a knife. Was this their end goal? To kill her? After all these years they do it now?

She growled against the gag in her mouth. The witch scowled and slapped her hard. "Shut up freak. You belong to us and we will do what we please with you." Gem hissed. Blair grunted, the cuts the witches nails opening up and blood dripping of her cheeks. Blair watched as she chanted the spell. That's when she felt it. The bubbling on her left hand. The same thing happened every time they did this but this time her head throbbed. This never happened. A light flashed in her eyes. She saw a face, beautiful and shining.

Gem backed away from the girl in the chair. "Vince what is this? Why did she go limp? She was SUPPOSED TO BE OUR PUPPET!" As her voice rose and the demons around her flinched. When Gem got angry she hit things. And the closest thing to her was Blair's unmoving body. She swung her arm around to hit the girl when a hand reached and stopped her sinking their nails into the pale skin.

"If you touch her I will drag you to hell myself, bitch!" The owner of the voice growled. A dark skinned woman with long brown hair emerged from the shadows. Her eyes were glowing yellow as she  grabbed  Gem's face and burned it. As the witch  screamed in agony , Vince jumped to save his lover, but was intercepted when another  new demon. He was dark skinned as well, but with silver hair. As his eyes grew black, the pupils glowing white,  he ripped Vince's heart right out of his chest. The man's face twisted in pain as a black smoke emerged form his esophagus. It flew out of the basement as fast as light. 

Gambles and Kase ran up the stairs, Juniper coming to late behind them. As she hit the first step yet another demon appeared. She had dark wavy hair  and her eyes were glazed with red. She grabbed Juniper by the back of her shirt and pulled her back. The girl fell back and hit her head on the concrete floor knocking her out cold. As the first demon dropped Gem, the witch's face blistered and red, she looked to see ithe danger was gone. The second demon rushed to Blair's side and immediately cut her free. Her limp body fell into his arms, "Hello love," he cradled her in his arms, "Come on wake up. You can't die, I've just found you," 

Blair felt the comforting  warm light fade. Her eyes were met with magnificent green ones, "Hey darling," said the man. Her eyes came to focus and she saw that he had dark skin and silver hair. His handsome face split into a smile , "I'm happy to see you. Please rest, you're gonna need it." He leaned forward and kissed her forhead as she blacked out.
