Lily’s POV:

I was never the type of girl who held things back. You took me as I was or didn’t take me at all, easy as that. I am daring & rebellious. All the people I knew & surrounded myself with were this way too. So the day I met Ashton Irwin, I was taken aback by his lack of socializing. It didn’t seem like he didn’t know how to talk to people, just that he preferred not to. Ashton kept to himself, only saying something when called on in class.

It was the first day of my senior year. Fall had arrived rather quickly this year, but of course being unprepared, I wore a red skirt & long sleeved white shirt, finished off with grey vans. The cool wind nipped at my bare thighs & I shivered. “Damn you bipolar weather,” I mumbled to no one but myself as I walked out to my car. When I got closer, I noticed the car next to me was way too close for me to be able to comfortably open the driver’s door. Huffing in dismay, I sucked a hard breath in & made my tummy smaller. I snuck between the tiny space & managed to open my door. It opened just wide enough for me to be able to slide into my black leather seat.

Just before I closed my door, a guy walks up to the car that gave me so much trouble next to me. His curly locks are aimlessly thrown about his forehead. He has a small & crouched frame, weak looking. The sleeves on his arms are accompanied by many, many bracelets. Band bracelets I assumed.

He approaches his door & sees me studying him. Our glances meet & he instantly looks away, as if I was Medusa & he’d be turned to stone if he looked me in the eye. I furrow my brow & think I ought to give this boy a lesson in parking next to someone.

“Hey, try parking not so close to me next time yeah? I could barely get in without sucking the life out of myself.” I say with a bit of poison sliding off of my tongue. People never get the message unless you’re a little mean.

The boy looks down at his keys & fumbles with them. His car is quite old, so he has to unlock it by putting the key in the door. As he does so, he mutters something inaudible to even someone standing right next to him.

“What?” I asked   Again, he says something & I can't even begin to guess what it is. Still not looking at me, he opens his door. Getting frustrated, I raise my voice.

“Bro I can’t hear a goddamn word you’re saying. Speak up!” I almost yell, shrugging my shoulders in annoyance. He shakes his head softly & finally speaks up.

“I said I’m sorry,”   His voice was higher pitched than I'dd suspected, for a 17 year old guy at least. He didn’t have a harsh tone like I had had with him, which surprised me. When someone’s mean to you, you’re usually mean to them back.

“Okay, thank you.” I say, with the slam of my black car door. Heaving a sigh, I crank up the music knob. I pull out of the student parking lot & onto the road, tapping my thumbs on the steering wheel to the beat of the song on the radio. It only takes about 5 minutes before I'm home.

My father is the CEO of some steak house restaurant chain, so we have a decent amount of money to say the least. I open the door to my house & am greeted by my pocket full of sunshine, Dorothy. She’s a Pomeranian puppy. She jumps on me, barely reaching my knee with her paws as I bend down & pet her behind the ears. My backpack falls to the ground beside me as I walk into my kitchen, Dorothy’s nails clicking along behind me.

My mother doesn’t work but simply goes to the bar as her job, so she doesn’t get home till God knows when. Some nights its 7, others its not until the next day at like 6 in the morning. But, since my dad is always away on business, she gets away with it. & he thinks I’m a wreck.
