Chapter Forty Two
Ah'Taria - The PalaceCeleste paced in front of Lucas's desk before stopping and asking for the twelfth time, "Why won't you go up there." Turning toward Isaiah she pointed, "What type of man doesn't stand beside his wife while she gives birth to his child?"
Isaiah smirked down at the cards in his hands ignoring his wife. He'd been playing a card game with Acadia, Joshua and Jacob since Patricia had went into labor. "I declare war," he roared at the table before everyone started flipping their cards over. Laughing excitedly as he won and pulled the cards toward him.
Celeste waved her hand knocking all the cards to the floor before turning back to Lucas, "This is your first child and you should be there when it is born."
Lucas arched an eyebrow at his mother as he said coldly, "Why don't you go up there and be there when your first grandchild is born?"
Acadia stood and walked toward Celeste, "You need to calm down, let's go walk around the gardens and pick some flowers to decorate the baby's room."
Shaking, Acadia's grip she glared at Lucas, "You are so wrapped up in finding that girl that you are letting a lifetime of happiness slip through your fingers! Does your wife and child really deserve to be treated like this?"
Lucas stared coldly at his mother and the room started to shake. As he rose the desk slid to the side and she gasped as he slowly stalked toward her. Acadia head turned as he started to walk toward them and looked over to Jacob.
Jacob rose and walked swiftly to Lucas, "We should go get drinks to celebrate you becoming a father."
Lucas stared at his mother eyes snapping, "I'm starting not to care that you're my mother." As she gasped he smirked, "I can definitely see why father has 16 paramours." When she stared at him with hurt eyes he continued to glare, "Do you even realize how much of a nuisance you are? Shut your damn mouth and leave me the hell alone." The room continued to shake to punctuate his point.
Acadia held back a smile as Lucas finally vented at her, she'd watched as Celeste had nagged incessantly and Lucas had become distant but said nothing. As Celeste started to sob she glanced to their husbands. Isaiah was on his knees manually picking the cards up from the floor while Joshua was counting the ones he'd found so far.
Sighing she waived her hand and all the cards were sitting neatly on the table. Isaiah rose on a sigh as he saw he had no choice but to join the conversation. Slowly walking over to them he glanced wearily at his angry son.
Scrathing his head he began, "Lucas, we should go get drinks to celebrate the birth of you first child!" Acadia giggled as Lucas lips shifted as he fought a smile.
"You're right," he turned to his father and smiled, "After the baby is born we should celebrate." Staring cold at his mother he said with less warmth, "Have a banquet thrown in my child's honor after she is born."
When Celeste nodded Lucas started toward the door and Jacob fell into step beside him. Jovially he inquired, "Where are we going?"
Lucas smirked, "I'm going to get my child before that crazy lady does something that will make me kill her."
Jacob nodded and asked sarcastically, "And that crazy woman is Patricia?"
Nodding Lucas sighed, "Easley told me that she was whispering to one of her friends that after the baby was born she made arrangements to have her injected with something that would increase her power levels." He was about to increase his pace when he felt his child enter the world, grabbing Jacob and performed the step that had him outside her rooms.
