Nightmares.

They happen more often than not for Regina, but this one wasn't so much a make believe fantasy. It was something from her past that she'd buried deep within her. A scar that hasn't quite been fully healed.

She remembers the jolts of electricity running through her veins, causing her whole body to stiffen, her head thrown back as she cried out in pain. She remembers the sound of the switch he'd turned on, the buzzing of electricity flowing through the wires before it would hit her and she'd lose all thought and control, only feeling pain.

Robin can feel her on top of him, her arm bent at the elbow and laid limply upon his chest while her head rests somewhere between his neck and shoulder. He's been asleep for a while after spending a few minutes watching her sleep and stroking her hair gently, pushing it away from her face and caressing her cheek. It's not until early morning that he feels her stiffen. The hand on his chest is now gripping his bicep tightly every few seconds, her nails digging into him and causing enough pain to wake him with a start. He's looking at her face now, her brows are furrowed and jaw clenched. Her breathing is quick and uneven against him and her heart is racing.

"Now I'm going to give you one last chance.." Greg says as he approaches her after adjusting whatever he had to on the control panel. "Tell me where my father is."

She looks away briefly and he loses his patience. "Alright times up." He says turning back to the control panel.

She turns her head back to look at him, "wait."

He meets her eyes, a sudden hope within them and she can almost laugh when he asks, "where is he?"

She cracks a sly, evil smile as she tells him, "dead. I killed him the minute you ran away."

The hurt in his eyes was only there for a second before he was denying it. "No, you're- you're lying to me."

"You don't believe me? Go see for yourself. I buried his body at your camp sight. I doubt he gets many visitors... now go ahead and kill me. I just wanna see the look on your face when I-" Her blood curdling scream cut her off as soon as she felt the sudden pain take over her body. Her back arched as she gripped the shackles she'd been held down with and her head was thrown back as she cried out.

"Regina? Regina!" Robin calls, shaking her shoulder gently until she jumps and her eyes open wide. She becomes aware of her surroundings, realizes she's safe and lying with her husband then rolls over, wrapping her arms tightly around him as she starts sobbing into the crook of his neck.

He's used to this by now, will let her cry and hold him as long as she needs before she's ready to talk. His hand rubs up and down her back, over the silk of her pyjama shirt, murmuring that she's ok and he's here. It's taking her longer than usual to stop her crying and calm herself down and he can't help but worry and wonder what made her this upset. Finally she sniffles and pulls away, pressing a few kisses to his chest before laying her head back down. He wipes his thumb under her eyes and cups her cheek lightly, "it's ok, baby." He whispers with a kiss to the tip of her nose. "Only a nightmare, right?"

With that she's shaking her head, "it was a memory." She tells him softly, meeting his eyes and watching him admire her.

"Would you like to tell me about it?" Robin asks her, brushing a lock of hair from her face. She hesitates before nodding, presses her lips against his chest and sighs as she trails her fingertips along his abdomen. "Well back when I first came to Storybrooke, I met a man and his son."

"I don't like where this is going." He tells her with a chuckle which causes her to crack a small smile and flick him. "Oh hush, nothing happened." She laughs looking up at him briefly before watching her hand once again. "I enjoyed their company, his son used to come over and bake with me, and it was really the first time I'd felt anything, any emotion in a very long time. One day he came to me at Granny's, we were supposed to meet for breakfast and he made me a keychain."

"That's sweet Reg-"

"I'm not done."

He nods, "go on."

"Well it was a goodbye present. Him and his father decided they'd leave Storybrooke, but I became so attached to him it was hard to let him just leave." She sighs, getting too worked up and having to stop to take a breath. "Long story short is the boy left... and I... killed his father."

"That's what the nightmare was about?" Robin asks, looking down at her.

She shakes her head, "No. A few years ago, he came back all grown up. Trying to find his father and he found me. He kidnapped me and took me down to the docs where he strapped me to this table... I had no magic, no power and it was the first time in a while that I'd felt helpless." She admits, her emotions getting the best of her as she notices the sudden blurriness of her vision and blinks the tears away. "I don't know how he did it but he created this machine, attached all these wires and cables to me and then shocked me." She could feel how tense Robin was getting the more she went on. "It was the one of, if not the most painful thing I've ever endured." Regina states, rubbing her hand along her thief's firm chest in attempts to relax him a bit.

"Regina.." He begins. "Is that man still alive? Because I swear if he is I will strangle him with my bare hands."

She can't help the smile tugging at her lips before she presses a kiss to his chest. "He's dead, not to worry."

"I'm so sorry, my love." Robin says softly, pressing a kiss to her temple then her forehead. "You have me now though, and I wouldn't ever let anyone put you in harms way."

"I know." She replies, because she does know. If someone so much as touched her the wrong way Robin would most likely smash their face in.

"Thank you for telling me though, I know that must've been difficult."

"I love you." Regina simply says, kissing the corner of his lips then laying her head back down.

"Go back to sleep, Reg." Robin whispers, pressing his lips along her hair line and rubbing her back gently. "Love you too."

She nods and lets her eye lids fall shut heavily. "Night."

"Good night, beautiful."
