Marinette's POV

"I'm hopeless aren't I?" I say into the void that is the park Beaumarchais. I don't feel like facing my parents back home, or even Alya right now. So here I am alone, or almost. A muffled voice and vibration coming from my small pink pouch resting on my hip.

" Tikki, I don't need motivation today, just let me think." After a couple protests, the bag falls silent, leaving me to contemplate how I messed up so badly in front of Adrien. I guess it's just a habit I've picked up. Better to do nothing and not be noticed, than be brave and risk a relationship. Why did I let Chloe ask him before I did?

I'm only allowed a moment of silence until the citizens of Paris are screaming and running in terror from another akumatized villain. *Sigh* Well, duty calls. Though I'm really not feeling  up to it today.

"Never fear purrincess! I'm here to protect you!"

Oh great.

"What do you want Chat?" I say with a sigh.

"Oh, I know you don't need protecting from villains, but you look pretty letdown, maybe I can be of some help?" he says with a wink.  I am feeling emotionally torn. I sit back down on the park swing, while Chat looks surprised, but leans against the swing hinge, whipping his belt-tail around in circles.

"I ... really, really like this guy, and I messed up real bad in front of him. Another girl, she's just-just so... obnoxious and witchy (not actual word, but it rhymes with it :P), and I let her ask him out!" the words tumble out of my mouth, a waterfall of panic.

"Did he say yes?" Chat asks with his brow furrowed.

"No, but still, I can't let that happen again. I've been pushed to the side far too many times."

"I can relate, sort of."

"You're gay?" I ask, confused.

"NO! I didn't mean the liking a guy part, I just know how you feel. She's so brave and kind, and just enough sass to be cute. It's an impossible love, and even if she said yes, I don't deserve her."

"If you really respect her wishes, but at the same time, if you really love her, then she's worth fighting for, right? I say you go for it."

"Thanks princess. And don't worry about that guy. If he turns you down, he doesn't deserve you. Now I have a city to save. Again."

"Tell me about it." I start to say, but he's already gone, leaving me to contemplate on the squeaky swing in the park.
