Hi everyone,

So I wanted to give you guys a little bit of an overview and background before you started reading.

I've recently been commissioned by the highly anticipated upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, starring Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford (among a ton of others) and produced by big names such as Tom McCarthy and Selena Gomez. I've been commissioned to write a (short) story for a writing contest, in conjunction with the Netflix miniseries, based on an event in my life that I would like to change, if I ever got the chance. So that's what the next part will be, my answer.

It revolves mostly around my sophomore year of high school and a series of events that happened that year. It was a pretty rough year for me, mentally, academically, and socially, so if I ever had the opportunity to go back and change any single moment in my life, that would be it. There were some challenges that I was faced with and as a result of some of the choices that I made, I lost friends, damaged of few of my personal relationships, and put my academic career in serious jeopardy. So if you're interested in reading about that, check out the next part to get an explanation.

I wanted to take part in this campaign because a few years ago (when I was around like sixteen or seventeen), I actually read 13 Reasons Why and I was completely obsessed with it. It was so unlike anything else I had read before and if you've never read it, I would most definitely recommend it.

Anyway, when I found out that Netflix was going to be doing a miniseries based on it, I was obviously really excited for it. And then when I got the opportunity to be commissioned by the series, I was even more excited. Of course getting to work with any brand is amazing, but when you have been a fan of something for a while, it makes getting to work with them that much better.

I hope you enjoy (and maybe learn something from what I'm going to tell you) and don't forget to watch 13 Reasons Why on Netflix in the upcoming months! Lastly, you too can get involved in the 13 Reasons Why contest by writing your own short story based on a life event that you would like to change. All you have to do is be a legal resident of the United States or Australia, write a story 500 words or less in English, tag it #13ReasonsWhyContest, and post it to your profile by 11:59 PST on March 31, 2017
