Ava: Whats up? Just got out of school.
Ryan: Nothin' much. Miss me?
Ava: You know it.
Ryan: You couldn't last a day without me.
Ava: You shush.
Ryan: I love it when you're fiesty.
Ava: Calm the act lover boy.
Ryan: Can't a guy admire his girl?
Ava: So this is admiring?
Ryan: You better believe it.
Ava: I knew I could've done better.
Ryan: Ouch. I'm hurt.
Ava: Sorry. Did I damage your ego?
Ryan: Wow. Your going with the big ego thing again.
Ava: 'You better believe it.'
Ryan: You're funny you know that right?
Ava: I'm hil-ar-ious!
Ryan: You say potato I say patato.
Ava: You say admiring I say questioning.
Ryan: I was in a good mood. Why'd you have to ruin it?
Ava: Because. I felt like making you miserable today.
Ryan: Today? You mean, Everyday?
Ava: Huh. How rude.
Ryan: I have football practice soon. You going to miss me?
Ava: Nah. Plenty of fish in the sea.
Ryan: Plenty of cheerleaders too.
Ava: You wouldn't dare. -_-
Ryan: You know... They have pretty nice boo-
Ava: -_- I swear to god Carter. -_-
Ryan: -ts that they wear to formal dances at our school. You would probably look good in them.
Ava: How have I not broken up with you yet?
Ryan: Because, you can't find anyone better than me.
Ava: Wanna bet?
Ryan: Sure thing, doll. Would love to see you lose.
Ava: Oooo. Guess what?
Ryan: What?
Ava: I just got a text.
Ryan: From who?
Ava: A really hot guy.
Ryan: THE BET WAS A JOKE I'M SORRY PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!
Ava: Calm down.
Ryan: Who was the hot guy tell me now.
Ava: Ryan Carter. Ever heard of him?
Ryan: You sneaky little salamander. -_-
Ava: Love you too!
Ryan: Holy crap!
Ava: Huh?
Ryan: N-nothing.
Ava: What -_-.
Ryan: Hot girl texted me.
Ava: Very funny.
Ryan: Seriously. I'm breaking up with you. I want her. She's so fine!
Ava: U-um. O-okay...
Ryan: Sup girl. I just broke up with my girlfriend for you baby. Are you a ticket? Cause you got 'fine' written all over you.
Ava: I freaking hate you Ryan.
Ryan: ;P
Ava: When's your football practice? So you can leave me the hell alone already!
Ryan: Oh c'mon baby! Don't like a taste of your own medicine. Do ya?
Ava: I'm leaving this conversation. Buh bye!
Ryan: <3
Ava turned off her phone after looking at the last message. She was tired of him always joking around with her. She wanted him to take her seriously. She loved him, but she wasn't sure if he was that serious. Right when she layed back into her bed her phone buzzed beside her. The hell does he want!
Ryan:I love you more than I love rocky road ice cream! P.S : That's a lot.
Ava couldn't help but giggle. He knew just how to make her happy. He always had good humor.
Ava: Bye.
Ryan responded close to immediately.
Ryan: Still mad?
Ava: No. You're just too adorable.
Ryan: What can I say? I'm a ladies man!
Ava: Oh shut up Carter! Buh. Bye. I love you. <3
Ava finally put her phone down without it buzzing again. She put her head on her comfy pillows. She massaged her temples, long day. She worked in an hour and she still hadn't showered. Her talk with Ryan cheered her up a little.
She slept for about thirty minutes and then woke up to her alarm.
"Crap! Crap! Crap! I'm late!" Ava exclaimed. She was supposed to be awake fifteen minutes ago. She had already gotten in trouble with her boss yesterday for being late.
Ava quickly got ready for work. She put on a regular outfit and stuffed her apron in her purse for when she got to work. She worked in a food court at a mall. It was constantly buzzing with people of all ages. She hated working there, she wasn't exactly the most socially advanced person.
Ava hopped off the bus that stopped right in front of the mall entrance. Another day, another day, Ava thought to herself. She made sure she had all her belongings with her before she headed towards the mall entrance and into the food court.
It was hectic like always, mostly teens stuffing their faces with junkfood. Ava worked in the candy shop at the end of the food court. It was all the rage this time of year. This was it's first full year at the mall. Kids were known to save up money just to be able to buy some sweet savory candy.
Ava went through the back of the candy shop entrance. She was late by fifteen minutes, she went to the employees room and dropped off her purse. She quickly grabbed her apron and started working. Her boss hadn't come in to check if she had gotten to work onto yet, good.
Ava walked towards the cash register where she saw a new girl struggling with a group of kids who were asking her to package candy for them.
"First day?" Ava asked the new employee.
"Yeah. I need a little help." The girl said looking down at her feet in embarrassment.
"No problem." Ava said. She grabbed the bag of candy that the new girl was filling and took over."What type of candy did you guys want?"
"A half pound of m&m's and a half pound of jelly belly's." A kid with short scruffy brown hair replied.
"Alright." Ava said as she started to fill the bag. She was a pro at her job but she wasn't always on time.
"Here ya go. That'll be 4 dollar and 53 cents." Ava said to the guys who seemes to be around her age, or maybe a year younger. They gave her the money with a note inside of it. Ava put the money in the cash register and unfolded the note.
It read:
Call me, hot stuff.
Oh hell no, Ava thought. Her face crumpled in disbelief. She was used to stuff like this but not while on the job. Men like those chauvinistic pigs disgusted her.
"I-is anything wrong?" The new girl asked her looked over her shoulder slightly, she read the note and her face looked sad. "Those boys."
"It's fine. I'm used to it. I have a boyfriend anyways." Ava said , she converted her face to a smile.
"Oh! I just remembered I never introduced myself. I'm Sarah. Nice to meet you. Thanks for saving my behind back there." The new girl, Sarah, said to Ava with a large smile.
"No problem Sarah. My name's Ava. Short for Avery." Ava said to Sarah with a quick smile. New customers entered the door and Ava was ripped away from the conversation to help to customers. After she got their order done she taught Sarah all there is to know about running a candy shop successfully. Like whenever a customer gets confused to just smile and help them out by giving them suggestions of good candy that they might like.
The whole day was mostly Ava helping Sarah learn how to handle the job. Especially how to tolerate the anmoying kids that came into the store time to time. Some high school guys would come just to flirt with the workers. Most of the time Ava would just blow them off with somethingalong the lines of "Candy's the only sweet thing in here. So don't look at me.". That would make most of the guys leave.
Once it hit 6 at night she had to close up shop for the day. She went to the back room to grab her purse, she saw Sarah grab her things too and they headed out and closed up shop together. Today the mall closed early because of heating issues.
Sarah and Ava went the same way for the most part. They took the same bus until Ava had to switch to another bus. She wished Sarah a good night and then hopped onto the other bus to get home.
It took another ten minutes to arrive at her house. Once she got there she plopped her belongings on the couch, she picked up her phone. Three new texts:
Ryan: Miss you.
Sam: At party with Calvin. Ttyl
Mom: Out with your father at dinner. Order something. Don't have too much junkfood! She laughed at the last text, her mom knew that Ava worked at a candy shop even though she had no interest in sweets unless they were baked, like cupcakes. Ava's stomach growled as she picked up the menu and placed an order for a medium pizza to her address.
While she waited she texted Ryan.
Ryan: Answer meeee!!!
Ava: Calm down I'm here!
Ryan: I feel bad for my sis. She had a new job today.
Ava: What's she work for?
Ryan: Some shop or restaurant or food thing. Idk she didn't specify.
Ava: Sounds interesting.
Ryan: So. How was work for you?
Ava: Tiring. Almost fell asleep on the shift.
She and Ryan texted until her pizza arrived. She went to the front door when it rang and gave the pizza delivery guy the money and she went inside with her pizza. She flopped onto the couch and turned on the TV while munching on her pizza. She had just finished her pizza when she had started getting sleepy. She closed her eyes for a second of rest and ended up falling asleep.
