Chapter Forty Five
Outlands - Crystals Cafe and Rest Stop

Dear Mia and Kae,

I'm so happy to read about Crystal's Cafe and Rest Stop, it sounds beautiful!  I can just imagine a big white three story brick building with shining glass windows and flowers, full of laughter and the wonderful smells of pastries.  Kevin Lovelace sounds like an amazing boy, helping his family by working there.  It sounds like you've welcomed him into your little happy family.

I know I haven't wrote often but promise to try to write more.  Sapphire has just celebrated her two year birthday and Celeste threw a grand soiree for her.  She is so beautiful with her golden red hair and vibrant eyes.  I've enclosed an image of Lucas so you can see her.

Next time you write I hope you will send an image of you and Kaelen; include Kevin too!

Your family, Acadia

Kayla looked at the picture of Lucas holding a smiling little girl.  Touching the picture she outlined Lucas's face before staring intently at Sapphire.  She looked so precious and she could see the similarities to Layette and Lucca in their eyes, nose and chin.  Kayla could definitely see a little of Celeste and Patricia in her features, also.

Frowning she exited their living quarters and walked down the stairs.  She could already hear Layette and Lucca playing with Kae playing in the yard.  As she entered the main area of the cafe she waved toward Kevin, who was wiping down the glass counter.  She nodded to the customers drinking coffee, tea and wine before walking out the double glass doors that looked out into the yard.

She nodded, as she walked down the three stairs, to the couple staying in one of the rest stop rooms before walking over to join Kae.  "Why are you letting them play in the dirt?"

Kaelen smiled as he looked up from the kids shrugging, "Because they are having fun.  They were just pulling the petals off your precious flowers."

As Kayla stared at her kids a picture Lucas's daughter came to mind and she couldn't imagine her playing in the dirt or pulling petals off flowers.  Waving the though aside she saw Kaelen was frowning at her; laughing she joked, "Kids will be kids!"

Kaelen laughed as he stood up, "Yes they will.  Kids aren't meant to be paraded around at big parties." As he gazed into the cafe his eyes landed on a man with coal black skin and long straight black hair who had just walked in.  Walking into the cafe he closed the doors behind him.

Nodding to Kevin he called, "Are you ready to go on lunch?"

Kevin laughed as he walked into the kitchen area, "Nope.  Mia said if I finished this I could have lunch with you guys upstairs."

The whole cafe laughed as they watched Kevin smile big at the thought of having lunch with them. Kaelen laughed and walked over to the stranger. "Welcome to Crystal's," eyeballing the man wondering what had brought him to the outlands.  "We don't get a lot of tourist," he said in an overly friendly voice.

Darth Nelson looked up from his hand held to stare blankly before smiling civilly, clearing the screen he said, "I'm touring the universe and decided to start with the ancient's planet."  Suddenly as he continued he became more animated, "There was a freaky storm in the galaxy almost 20 months ago and I knew I had to start here; I read that it shook the 8 planets and 166 satellites of this system."

Kaelen stared at the man as he continued talking about how he planned to leave the outlands after looking around for a few weeks and then going to Dayum before leaving and heading to Vox.  When he finally finished his boring monologue of everything he wanted to do Kaelen nodded as if he'd been listening.
