Saving Asher - Ch. 4

The next few school days went by, everyday I saw Lily, everyday I fell more in love with her. I kept debating on asking if she wanted to go to the frozen yogurt place with me or not, just to hang out. She probably just thought of me as a friend anyway. So I never asked her. Falling in love sucks.

Friday. Finally.

"Asher! Wait up!" I heard someone call to me as I was walking to class. I turned around to see Lily running towards me with a big smile on her face.

"Asher guess what!" She exclaimed, "I made the track team!"

"Congratulations Lily!" I told her, I had always wanted to be on the track team, but I was never fast enough.

"I'm so excited! The first track meet is next Wednesday, wanna come?"

"Sure, I'll be there." I told her. I'd do anything to see her.

"Thank you! That means a lot to me."

Lily said with a huge smile I'm her face.

Then she gave me another hug.

"Lily can I ask you something." I asked her

"Yeah you can ask me anything, what's up?"

"Do you maybe want to hang out with me this Saturday? If you don't have anything to do?"

She looked disappointed, "Asher you know I'd love to. But with Track practice and all, I don't have time this weekend, next weekend. I promise."

"Okay. Next weekend,"

I was really upset. Not that she made the team or anything, but that I couldn't see her as often anymore because of her practice.

I headed to class and worked my way through it. Then lunch came.

I tripped and got pizza sauce all over my shirt, everyone laughed. Or at least I felt like everyone was staring and laughing at me. Worst day ever. Getting rejected by the only one that matters, and getting laughed and stared at. Whats next, getting run over by a bus?
