Grace had the perfect life. She married her high school sweetheart when she was only 19 years old, had her beautiful daughter when she was 20, and lived in the little condo on the beach with her family. She completed her dream of owning her own bookstore and thought she had her whole life figured out. That is, until an accident took everything from her. Left alone to grieve, Grace resorts to barely existing. Her previous bubbly personality, infectious laugh, and constant smile ceases to exist. She wakes up every morning, goes to work at her bookstore, goes back to her empty house, and cries herself to sleep every night. Her once vibrant life is reduced to her life in survival mode.
Will has seen too much death and too much violence. When he is reassigned to a desk job at a recruitment office in a small beach town in Florida, he is all too grateful. He instantly finds interest in the sad looking woman who works in the bookstore next to his office. He understands sadness and wants to reach out to her, but doesn't know quite how to.
The two of them form a quick bond and together they help each other move on from the pain of their pasts.
