Independence Day

 Hi again people of Wattpad! So here's the first chapter of my story! Hope you all like it and it's not boring or anything. Thank you for even just giving my story a chance out of all the other stories out there that are probably better than mine. Anyway, enough jabbering, enjoy! -Anna

PS. The pic is Shade's hero outfit, just ignore the necklace and imagine her hair in a ponytail and with black fingerless gloves and a black domino mask without the white lenses like Robin's.  Closest thing I could find. Also, I do not own this pic, or any of the pictures I use in the future. 

GOTHAM CITY

July 4, 12:00 EDT

   Mr. Freeze was causing havoc in a park in Gotham, and Batman, Robin, and I had to stop him. Out of all the days, Mr. Freeze just had to be causing trouble today. This better not take too long. Today's the day and I did not want to be late. Black Canary would meet us at the Hall of Justice when we finished dealing with this goon. Batman, Robin, and I got to the park and saw Freeze, well, freezing people in solid ice.

 "Enjoying family time? My family has other plans," Freeze said. 

 "Robin, Shade, distract Freeze until I come in," Batman told us. We nodded and sneakily ran towards the villain. Robin threw a birdarang at Freeze's gun, and he stopped firing.

 "Batman, I was wondering when-" He stopped once he heard Robin's cackle echo through the park. Robin jumped onto Mr. Freeze's helmet from behind, cracking it, then jumped off in front of him. I took a nearby tree's shadow and formed my scythe. Swiping Mr. Freeze's feet from under him, he fell down, and I went next to Robin, leaning on my scythe. 

 "Oh, Boy Wonder and the Shadow. The Bat sent you to drag me off to prison. Frankly, I'm underwhelmed," Mr. Freeze said, looking at us from the ground. I narrowed my eyes at the villain. Shadow was a name people called me, like Boy Wonder for Robin. I hated it though. It reminded me too much of my past. 

 "Great, but we're kind of in a hurry here," Robin said impatiently. 

 "Kids, always in a rush," Mr. Freeze said standing, and aimed his gun at us. 

 "He wasn't talking to you," I said in a sing-song voice. Batman jumped from the rocky ledge from behind Freeze. The said villain turned around, and gasped, only for his helmet to shatter from a punch from Batman. With his helmet broken, Freeze had no choice but to cover it with his own ice gun, including his face. The cops then came and took him away. 

 "Great job you two," Batman said in his usual monotone voice. 

 "Now can we go, please?" Robin asked. "Today's the day!" 

 "Okay, Rob. No need to be so excited about it," I said sarcastically. He just rolled his eyes, and we headed to D.C.

WASHINGTON D.C.

July 4, 14:00 EDT 

 Robin and I stood with Speedy and Aqualad with our mentors in front of the Hall of Justice.

 "Today's the day," Batman said with a small smile towards Robin and me. 

 "Welcome to the Hall of Justice," announced Green Arrow. 

 "Headquarters of the Justice League," added Aquaman. 

 "You've all earned this," said Black Canary, putting a hand on my shoulder. 

 "Aw, man," whined a voice from behind us. We all turned around to see Flash stop in front of us, with Kid Flash just a second behind.
