Chapter 3

Kathleen

We ran for a long time, not stopping for anything. We soon found a waterfall and a meadow and rolled around in our animal forms, soaking up the sunlight, letting it warm our fur. We sat with our heads together. I couldn’t believe how in love I was with this girl and I didn’t even know her name.

Soon we changed back into our human forms and she gave me a pair of clothes to borrow. We went behind the waterfall and sat there for a while. She spoke up in a small voice that made my head spin.

“I’m Raelynn.” I smiled at her and she gave a shy one in return.

“I’m Katie.” She corrected me.

“Alpha Katie.” I looked down.

“Yeah. I’m the new Alpha. Everyone’s dream right?” I turned to the side to hide my face. She crawled closer to me.

“Hey. Being Alpha is a sign of change for the pack. A female Alpha will bring a change, and it’ll be a good one.” I nodded and looked towards her.

“Are you a lone Neko? There’s no pack of them around.” She looked away from me.

“I was abandoned. They didn’t want me because all I did was screw things up. I’m a mistake and a walking disaster.” I growled and pinned her down gently.

“I may not know you very much, but you’re my mate and I love you. So stop saying that! You are not a mistake! So shut up.” She looked shocked at me and my sudden outburst.

“Yes Alpha…” I let her up and scoffed.

“Don’t call me that.”

“Well it would be disrespectful if I didn’t.” I growled at her again.

“Don’t. Call. Me. That. Do I make myself clear Raelynn?” She nodded but didn’t say anything. “I said. Did I make myself clear?!” She jumped at my voice slightly.

“Yes Katie.” I realized that I had scared her and put my head in my hands.

“I’m sorry. The change has been rough on me. It’s bad just when you’re a regular wolf, but with the Alpha change, it’s much worse. I’m sorry I snapped at you.” She nodded and looked over at me.

“It’s alright.” She smiled at me and I sighed and put my hand lightly on her face.

“Where do you live?” She smiled and led me to a small cave. Inside were a couple pillows and blankets all over the floor as a makeshift bed. Her clothes were neatly folded in a corner. I looked around sadly as she plopped down on a beanbag.

“It’s not much. But it’s what I call home…” She trailed off at the end and I went over to her and squatted in front of her.

“Not anymore. You’ll come and live with me in my home. No one can argue with the Alpha.” I smiled at the last sentence and she smiled small.

“But I can’t impose on your family.” I shook my head.

“I’m moving out soon. The Alpha is moved out into a big house away from their parents so they can make their own decisions. Besides, my mate moving in isn’t imposing.” She smiled at me and nodded.

“Okay. I’ll move in with you.” I chuckled softly.

“It’s cute how you think it was a choice at all.” I winked at her and we picked up everything, not that she had many possessions anyway though.

We started walking back to my house and as we did she told me about Neko’s and her family life as a child. It seemed to me that she had a pretty upsetting child. It was clear that she had abandonment issues by the way she was already practically clinging to me as we walked. She was on my back since my Alpha strength had come in, and her arms and legs were both tightly gripping onto me.

“Tell me about your childhood Katie.” I sighed and began.

“I’m an only child. My parents were always extremely strict until about a month before my 17th birthday when they told me I was the next Alpha. It wasn’t a hard life I supposed, but it was a sad one. I was always lonely because my father didn’t seem to care about me since I was a girl. There’s never been a female Alpha and they figured it would be someone else that was around my age, until they got news that I was Alpha, and then they suddenly gave a crap about me. I was never really cared about until I got out of the house and made as many friends as I possibly could. Although I’m not sure how many really wanted to be friends with me and which ones were being forced by their parents because I was the Alpha’s kid. My only real friend is you, but I don’t mind. In fact I prefer it that way. You don’t have a choice, you already love me.” She squeezed harder and nuzzled her nose into my neck.

“I love you a lot already. Thank you for letting me live with you.” I smiled.

“I wasn’t just going to let you live in a cave. You’re my mate, and as far as I’m concerned, you’re a part of the pack.

“Kathleen how could you tell her she’s a part of the pack?! She’s a Neko, not a wolf!”

“Dad, she’s my mate! I couldn’t let her just live out in the wilderness where she could die! Besides, I’m Alpha and people have to trust me. You have to trust me. I lead the pack now! NOT YOU!” I screamed at him before running to my new house and slamming the door. Raelynn and I had gotten back and then I was moved to my new house soon after. We had been receiving help to take all of my things and furniture to the new house and my dad pulled me to the side to ask who she was. I explained and then the fight blew out. I can’t believe he’s telling me I’m supposed to leave my mate out in the woods to die. That was not going to happen!

I walked in and up to my bedroom to see everything put away and a beautiful sleeping Raelynn under the blankets and sleeping like a baby. I walked over, took off my shoes and changed into a tank top and a pair of short shorts. I crawled over and straddled her, just watching her face as she slept soundly. It was the first time sleeping on a real bed in who knows how long.

Suddenly her eyes fluttered open and she looked at me. I gasped slightly and started to get off when she stopped me.

“No, stay there. I’m comfortable.” I nodded and leaned down slowly.

“Can I try something?” She nodded slightly scared. “Stay still. I won’t hurt you. I promise.” She relaxed and I bent down closer, looking from her eyes to her lips then back up to her eyes. I bit my lip slightly and took a deep breath in. I connected our lips softly at first, but when I felt a surge of electricity, I pressed them together more urgently, needing to be closer. She kissed back and when I licked and nipped at her bottom lip she opened them immediately.

We both pulled back once we needed air, and I set my forehead on hers and looked into her beautiful blue eyes with my green ones. I could tell already that I was insanely in love with her already, and would be forever more.
