I woke up. It was 7:00 a.m., and my alarm clock was blaring Bohemian Rhapsody. “Shut up,” I groaned turning over, “ten minutes.” The loud noise was getting annoying, so I slapped my hand onto the ‘off’ button. I groggily got out of bed, and turned to my closet. “What to wear,” I thought. Now, I’m not a prissy girl who spends half an hour picking out her outfit for the day, but I still don’t want to look like I just grabbed the closest thing of the dresser and put them on. I decided on a navy V-neck t-shirt and tan cargo shorts. I combed my elbow-length ginger hair, and braided it. I went downstairs grabbed an apple off the table, said goodbye to my mom, opened the door, and went outside to my light blue bike. You’re probably thinking ‘sweet, motorcycles’. Well think again, my dad thinks that they’re screaming metal death traps so I don’t have one. Instead, I have a bicycle. I rode my bike over the bridge to get to my High School, Lyceum. I’m a senior, so I just have to get through about two and a half months until I’m out for good.

In the fall I’ll be off to Mount Holyoke, an all-girl college, with my best friend, Christy Shamerno. It’ll be a big move since Mount Holyoke is in Massachusetts, and I live in Ohio. My town, Cleveland, is one of the biggest cities in Ohio, but I live in a suburb called South Euclid.

On my way to school I saw a small cat. I guessed it was no more than two or three months old, judging by the size. I love animals and hope to be a vet someday, so when I saw this kitten my heart just broke. I parked my bike on the side walk, and walked up to it. I tried to call it, but nothing happened. So, slowly, very slowly, I walked up to the cat. I tried to be quiet, but I accidently stepped on a twig. As soon as it broke, the cat looked straight at me. In that second, I saw two things that made me shake.

One, the cat had red eyes. Now, I don’t mean, “omg newborn vampires that sparkle and have red eyes! Squeee!” I mean the entire eye was red except for the slit-like pupil.

Two, the cat vanished. Yeah, you heard me, vanished. Right before my eyes. One second it was there, the next second, gone.

‘What?’ I thought, looking utterly dumbstruck, ‘I’m going crazy, I must be.’ there was no other explanation.

I got back onto my bike and rode to school.
