It was one of her longer shifts at the hospital. She was very exhausted considering the little sleep she's gotten the last few nights. Sasuke has been really stressed out and he tends to be extra hostile when he's stressed.
Yes, Sakura Haruno married the great Sasuke Uchiha. After he had returned from his lone journey, she had been waiting for him just as he expected. They sort of rushed into a marriage but most of the couples their age did too. Sai and Ino were the first ones to get married. And shortly after Sakura and Sasuke got married, Naruto and Hinata married as well. No one really expected that one.
Hinata wasn't very noticed among the village unless it came to her peers. But she married the Seventh Hokage so she gets much more publicity now. More than her liking. She prefers to lead a quiet, peaceful life. While Naruto, however grown up a little, prefers an exciting and loud lifestyle.
Sakura finds that she has to bite her tongue a lot when it comes to talking with Sasuke. She's not usually one who likes to submit completely to anyone but it's always been an exception when it comes to Sasuke. Although lately, that exception is starting to diminish and his domineering personality is beginning to collide with hers.
The couple had been married for a little over four months and nothing seemed to sail smoothly at all. Sakura figured that life was hectic right now especially for her new husband. "After some time passes, everything will be great." She used that phrase to reassure herself from time to time.
"Just finish up the last of that paperwork and you can go home," Shizune said to Sakura bringing her out of her thoughts.
Sakura started working at the hospital after the war and after her marriage she began working full time. Shizune was put in charge after Tsunade left for her trip.
"Okay. Do you want me to come in at seven again tomorrow?" She asked without looking up from the papers.
"No. Tomorrow is your day off, remember? You've been spending too much time here lately." Shizune flashed a knowing smile to her apprentice.
Shizune was a very generous boss but Sakura thinks she might return to working part time and going on missions again. Since Kakashi isn't Hokage anymore, he's able to go on missions again. But that means that Naruto can't do that now. It's been so long since she's been able to actually talk to Naruto or Kakashi. She's been busy with the hospital and they're busy with their lives as well. It's actually rather sad.
Sakura packed up her bag and headed for the main doors. Bright orange illuminated the sky and the air had began to cool. It wasn't unbearable because it was the middle of summer.
She was almost home when she saw a distraught Hinata crying in the middle of the road. It was almost all dark by now. The strained sniffles coming from the sad girl was the only thing that broke the silence.
"What's wrong, Hinata?" Sakura asked in an empathetic tone she hoped would coax her to open up.
"He's just..." she hiccuped and sobbed, "not there...."
Instead of trying to decipher what or who she was even talking about, Sakura helped her up and walked her back to her home. They lived right down the road from one another so it was no trouble at all to Sakura. It's funny how close they live to one another and yet they still barely speak anymore.
