Chapter 1

Gazing at the stars, holding hands, and laying in the grass. I couldn't help but gaze into his eyes instead. The night was perfect, all alone watching the meteor shower.

"You are so beautiful," He whispered in my ear. I speculated the color of his eyes, his bright blue eyes. Those eyes are what brought me to him.

"I love you," I reply, smiling uncontrollably. He leans his tan head in, expecting a kiss. My first kiss. His light blond hair and his dashing smile with dimples, I couldn't help giggling. He stops right before my lips. He smiles at my giggle. Man, his teeth are white. I put my hand cupping his short neck right above the hair line. Letting him know, that it was okay. He touched his lips on mine, and pressed harder. He draws back and studies my face. His eyes are so big and his eyebrows are blond and slim. They stand out in a good way which brings out all of his features together.

"Luke,"

"Mabel," he smirks at me and gives me a wink.

Rustling in the woods occurred.

"What was that?" I asked, peering around.

"Nothing, let's just get back to what we were doing." He gives me a reassuring smile. He leans in again. I smile at his shiny blue eyes.

"I think I l-"

The rustling occurred again.

"Luke," I said more fiercely- "what is going on?!"

"Come on," He said looking everywhere but at me. I packed up our picnic basket and blanket carefully. Luke stood there motionless and quiet.

"Hey, aren't you going to help me?" I asked curiously.

He stood there with a blank expression on his face and mumbled at the ground, "hurry"

"Run! Go!" He said grasping my hand firmly. Luke was sprinting faster and faster, crunching the freshly cut grass. On a beautiful warm night I expected everything to go perfect. Not end up running away from someone or something on a trail that didn't lead to home. I have known these woods all my life, not once has this trail come up before. Leaving the clearing for the shower, suddenly I was becoming nervous like Luke.

"We're going the wrong way!" Screamed over the snapping of branches.

"Shhh!!!" Luke responded, "they'll see us!"

"Who?!" I whispered just loud enough for him to hear. The flashing lights were catching up to us.

"Hold on!" Luke shouted. He took a wide but, quite turn onto again, a dirt path I have never seen. He dragged me behind a huge boulder/ rock. He put a finger to his lip motioning for me to sit still. I sat there motionless, holding my breath, waiting for time to pass. A few minutes went by, Luke sat up from behind the boulder.

"What are you doing?!" I whispered. He seemed mesmerized by some item ahead of him. I didn't have the courage to turn to see it myself. He slowly walked away from me. This time I said it a little louder,

"LUKE!" Still nothing struck him. I waited for him to leave the boulder, I was waiting for him to turn around and choose me. Oh Lord, this all happened so fast. I quietly turn around only to hear the sound of screaming.
