A Little Push in the Right Direction

The house was small and unimpressive, almost like where Inrade spent his days. The only thing that was remotely eye catching was a small garden just beyond the rickety front gate.

"Come on." Elarah scolded. "He's expecting us back by now so there's no time for sightseeing. He doesn't like to be kept waiting."

The red headed Iop nearly dragged her shushu behind her as she approached the gate and pushed it open for the others to follow. "The man who lives here said that he was a friend of your father's and that they used to go on a lot of adventures together. It was a lot of heart warming stuff, really. If he knew your father so well, Hominiede, he might be able to give you some kind of clue as to where to look for him."

Elahra knocked on the door and waited patiently for the house's occupant to answer.

The man who answered looked dishelved in every way. His dark brown hair stood on its ends and his eyes had bags beneath them as if he hadn't slept in days. His green shirt had dirt stains adorning it. "Well," he licked his chapped lips as he began, "I see you really did return like you said you would. Is this the young lady you were talking about?" He asked, pointing at the black haired hybrid in the back of the group

"Yeah." The Iop answered. "That's her. I brought her here to see if you would have any sort of knowledge on the whereabouts of her father."

The man nodded and ushered the group inside.

The first room they all entered was a small living room with only two chairs and a table in between.

"Sorry if it's a little cramped. I don't get many visitors. I kind of isolated myself after Haegas moved away. To where I don't even remember anymore."

"Was this before I was born?" Hominiede asked, taking the chair in front of the weary-looking man.

"It was. I think he moved soon after he married Andromeda, your mother."

Pompiene took a seat on the floor next to Hominiede and took hold of her wrist.

"So, what happened all of that time before he moved?" The shushu asked. "How did you know him if he originally lived in Brakmar?"

"Haegas was quite the traveler, I can tell. Something tells me that he didn't exactly like it in Brakmar at times, because he was often here in Bonta when he did travel. I was one of the first people he met while he was with his father. I would always find some way to coax him into coming into the woods with me to go exploring and maybe catching our own wild Tofu.

"I wasn't the only one doing the convincing, though. One time we saw a wild dragoturkey and that was it for Haegas. Next thing I knew, I was a few steps behind him trying to catch the thing and tame it. Man, that day, we had to explain to our families why we were so banged up after coming out of those woods! I had a chipped tooth, cuts from all the thorns and a huge on my chest from being kicked by the dragourkey, but that wasn't half as bad as what Haegas got from that trip to the woods.  He had a black eye, a chipped tooth, a bloody nose, a fat lip, and a large amount of bruises on his chest and stomach from being trampled by the dragoturkey.

"My dad chewed my butt out for trying something dangerous like that. He told me that I could have gotten killed. I got a kick out of watching Haegas's father's reaction. He praised the young Iop boy for being brave and coming home with a fully trained dragoturkey. He even told him that he could keep it just for being so brave and never backing down. It didn't make much sense to me, but hey, that's a Iop for ya. They always ant a chance to be brave and fight. I guess it's just part of their warrior lifestyle."

"Yeah, I should know." Hominiede smiled and shook her head. "Dad did the same thing to me and all my brothers. After mom was done lecturing us about a dangerous thing we did, he would congratulate us on our honor and strength. I guess that's why Aria's the only sane one in our family. She never does anything that my mom would consider 'stupid' or 'too risky'."

"But, back to the topic at hand." Elahra redirected the conversation. "What does this have to do with knowing the current whereabouts of Haegas now?"

The man nodded and answered. "It's as simple as figuring out where he went after his adventures in Bonta, which honetsly could be anywhere, but I do remember that after visiting here, Haegas and his father would always go back in the direction of Brakmar if that helps at all, only that doesn't exactly mean that they would head straight back, knowing Haegas and his father."

Hominiede immediately stood. "That seems like all the information we need, right?"

"Well, there's not much more information that I could tell other than, there are two ways back to Brakmar. Haegas told me that and he mentioned that he didn't have preference when it came to which way he chose. Both ways have their similarities, so some of the places you check for him will be similar. Be careful, though. Brakmar is known to be quite a dangerous place for young girls."

"Don;t worry," Hominiede reassured the man, "we will."

And with that, the three girls parted and soon parted again to go their more separate ways. Pompiene stayed in the woods with her mast er and Hominiede wandered back into Bonta, wondering where in the World of Twelve her friends were.
