I sat on the porch and looked out at the moons reflection on the water. A light breeze blew my orange curls and tickled my bare shoulders.
It had been a week since we moved in here. A week since we moved in with Jeanette. She wasn't terrible or anything. In fact she was actually pretty nice. She just wasn't mom.
Suddenly, I stood up and started walking. I didn't know where I was going, but it felt nice to have the cool sand on my shoe-less feet. I didn't even realize I was crying until I felt a soft hand brush a tear off of my cheek. For a second I was paralized as I looked up at the owner of this hand. She was a girl who couldn't be much older than I was. She was very pale, and she looked like she hadn't been outside in a while. Her hair cascaded down her back in a color that looked like moonlight reflecting off of ocean waves. Her glacier blue eyes held stars. She had a spatter of freckles across her nose and soft pink lips that looked - WAIT! Why am I looking at that? This thought brought me back to my senses and I jumped away. I don't know this girl!
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You just looked so sad." Something about the airy way she speaks calms me down.
"Oh. Uh. It's ok. Who are you exactly?"  I guess what I said was amusing to her, because she started giggling. A cute giggle that makes my brain feel fuzzy for a moment.
"Wai- uh Wh- What's so funny?" I ask with a hint of hurt in my voice.
"Oh it's not what you said. It's just the way you said it."  I must have looked confused, because she spoke again. "It's just that you seem like a very to the point person. I haven't talked to anyone like that in a while."
"Oh." I mumbled. I could feel my face getting hot.
Suddenly, she grabbed my hand. It instantly felt warm. She started pulling me down the beach.
"Come on, walk with me." she said. I went, because how can you say no when a person mesmerizes you so much. How can you say no when them taking your hand sends tingles through your arm. How can you say no when this person feels like the calm in the middle of your storm.
"My name is Lily by the way."
