She watched him turn the handle and right before he stepped out that door for the last time ever, he turned to look at her. They shared a split second look but it must have felt like a life time. In that brief eye contact, every single second of their lives from their very first glance at each other to this very last look played like a movie in both their heads. They say this is how it is right before you die. Your entire life just flashes before your eyes making you want to hit rewind and start all over again. She thought that surely she must have been dying. She wanted to scream and beg for him to stay but she didn't seem to have the capability of speaking. She said nothing, not a word, so he left. Little did she know that he had waited, oh, how he waited with all of his heart, wanting her to tell him she'd have him back, wishing she would say she'd forgive him. The door closed behind him with a loud silence splitting bang. Once he had gone she let the inevitable tears burn their way to the surface and the next thing she knew she was on the kitchen floor sobbing her eyes out wanting nothing more but for him to come back.
