"Honestly, you should download to app. You'll love it, guys will drool over you, and maybe you'll find a lover," Myra begged. Of course she was kidding about the 'finding a lover' part. You can't find true love online. Trust me, I've tried. I love Myra to death, but she can be kind of annoying sometimes. I tell her I'm lonely, and suddenly she's making me dating profiles. I understand she's trying to make me feel better, but I don't want anyone to get too attached to me. I can't hurt anyone else. I can't get myself hurt anymore either. I know how this will end. I'll find someone I like, talk a little bit every day, and then one day they'll disappear... Or they'll end up being crazy. No thank you. Not today. Not ever. Of course I wouldn't say that, I don't want to hurt Myra's feelings. She's a tad bit sensitive.
"Look Myra, I'm just not interested in online dating. Especially because when would I ever even meet these people in person?" I try to wiggly my way out of this.
"Exactly, you'll never see them. Therefore, nothing serious. Come on, just give it a week." Myra pouts. She knows I can't help but feel bad when she pouts. So I have no other choice but throw my head back in defeat.
"Ugh. Fine. One week. But that's it! And then I never want to hear anything else about online dating apps. They're for the desperate anyway." This is going to be my hell on Earth. Nothing like dick pictures and thirsty guys wanting me to call them my 'daddy'. Luckily, it will only last a week. First, we must establish rules:
1.) no guys that are too cute (they're usually fake)
2.) No getting attached to anyone
3.) No giving out my social medias
4.) absolutely no more communication with any of them after a weekEasy. No problem. How hard can it be? The hard part is making the profile.
"What find categories describe you best? How tall are you? Do you smoke? Obviously not. If you did, I'd kill you. Describe yourself in seventy-five characters. What do you look for in your men?" Myra swarms me in questions. I barely have time to answer any of them. Maybe because she knows me better than I know myself. That's why she's my best friend.
"Are we sure this is a good idea?" It's not too late. Maybe I can still talk her out of it.
"You agreed! It's only a week. Stop being a baby," Myra jokingly hits my arm. She takes a picture of me and posts it. "You look a little awkward, but it'll do." Suddenly my phone erupts with little dings coming from the app. This was a horrible, horrible idea. This is going to be the longest week of my life. I just hope it goes quick, there's no dick pictures, and no guys wanting to meet up. Ha, wouldn't that be great? A girl can dream.
