SPLASH
Drip... Drip... Drip...
Laughter erupts above the now drenched boy, water runs off his blonde hair, with his head down in defeat, the boy got up and walks over to the bin, he throws out his untouched and now soaked sandwich 'Just another day at school.' The boy thinks to himself.
Stone-Hill High School was the local public high school in the small town of Stone-Ridge. Its school building was a dull grey brick building, the grounds surrounding the building were the only good thing about it, according to the students and teachers. The grounds had the usually sports area but it also had a huge garden and one side of the school grounds is bordered on a forest.
The boy enters the school building and starts to head towards the bathroom but someone moves in front of the boy, blocking his path. The boy looked up, his green eyes meeting the person's brown ones, "Good day to you Mrs Smith" the boy said respectfully, Mrs Smith was one of the oldest teachers at Stone-Hill High, with her grey hair pulled in a tight bun and her kind brown eyes, she stood out among the teachers and she is the most liked teacher because of her humour and her kindness, Mrs Smith looked the boy up and down and frowned "Lowell dear why are all wet?" Mrs Smith asked as she looked at the boy, Lowell's drenched figure, Lowell looked at the elderly teacher and sighs before smiling softly at her "Just my fellow classmates playing a prank" he said softly while continuing to smile but Mrs Smith looked concerned "A prank?... Lowell are you being bullied?" She asked kindly as she placed a hand on Lowell's shoulder. The young boy's smile twitched before disappearing as tears started to swell into his eyes and Mrs Smith pulled him into her chest, ignoring the wet patch that appeared on her chest, Lowell held in the tears but still leant into the woman's embrace, looking for comfort.
A few minutes later, Lowell was sitting on the red seats in front of the Principal's office, now wrapped in a warm towel that Mrs Smith had got for him from the Nurses Office, Mrs Smith had disappeared in to the office a little while ago and Lowell could just make out a few words of the conversation going on inside the Office but he could hear his name mentioned a few times.
Lowel sighed while staring at the ground but something at the corner of his eyes, he looked towards it but all he saw was a glimpse of something silver going around the corner, 'What was that?' Lowell thinks to himself as he begins to get up but the Principal's office door opening made him stop in his movement "Lowell come inside dear" Mrs Smith's gently voice makes him turn towards the door, the elder was standing by the door, looking at him. Lowell cast one last look towards where he had seen the flash of silver before following Mrs Smith into the Principal's office.
The room was around the same size of the regular living room with a large window at the opposite side of the room to the door where Lowell came through, that overlooked the garden. There was a large wooden desk in the middle of the room and sitting behind it was the Principal of Lowell's school.
The grim look on the Principal's face made Lowell nervous, Lowell knew the Principal as Mr Jones, having grown up living in an apartment next door to him. Mr Jones was a handsome man with his grey eyes and brown hair and he was kind, Lowell knew this as the male had used to babysit him and his little brother for their mother when he wasn't working. So seeing such a look on the normally smiling male's face, made Lowell nervous.
Mrs Smith, obviously noticing the younger male's nervousness, placed a comforting hand on the boy's shoulder and Lowell looks up at her and relaxed. Mr Jones looked at Lowell's slightly shivering form before sighing and holding a piece of paper out to Lowell, the boy slowly took the paper and read over it.
Lowell looked over the paper, it was a flyer for a boarding school called 'Tamer Academy', Lowell looked at the two teachers in confusion "what?" He asked confused "we would like your permission to try and enrol you at Tamer Academy," Mr Jones said as he looked at Lowell, whose face had turned a few shades lighter, "go to a boarding school..." Lowell said slowly while looking at the two teachers.
The teachers watched as Lowell started to frown "but I have to stay here and look after my brother" He said slightly panicked, but Mrs Smith placed a hand on Lowell's shoulder "I'm going to retire so I can help your family" She said while Lowell looked her in shock, "I need some time to think it over" Lowell said softly as he looked at the ground and both teachers nodded and let Lowell leave.
Lowell was allowed to head home early, so he could focus on making his decision, Lowell wandered aimlessly around the town before finally coming to a stop at an old abandoned park, he sat down on the other swing that wasn't graffitied, he slowly started to push himself back and forth while looking up at the darkening sky.
As he sat on the swings, he thought back to what he saw at school and sighed, he looked around the park before freezing as he stares something large and silver, standing at the other end of the park. It was standing in between the trees.
Suddenly he heard a voice...
Come...
