Second period went well, as none of the eccentric classmates that were in his first homeroom period were in this class. It went smoothly, and Yoongi was able to get information about the local gangs from one of his classmates.
"Sanguine and Chained each own half the town, as in it's their territory, not like they legally own anything. Main Street is neutral territory, but the west of town is Sanguine's territory and the east is Chained's," the classmate explained, speaking of the gangs with an awed tone.
From what shreds of information about the gangs Yoongi had gotten from other classmates, it seemed like most the students feared or disliked the gangs, but a good handful seemed to look up to both gangs, even going as far as to side with one of the gangs. It was odd to Yoongi that any students supported the gangs, but that wasn't important to him. He still hadn't gotten any information about the leaders, since they were very elusive and no one had seen his face.
Lunch started out as nothing special, Yoongi sitting on the roof with his eyes trained on some game he had downloaded on his phone to keep himself entertained. It was rather chilly on the roof, and Yoongi silently cursed the fact that he had to wear a skirt as he shivered slightly. However, towards the end of lunch, his view of his phone was obscured when someone threw their jacket onto his arms.
"It's cold. Put this on," It was none other than Jeongguk, hawk-like gaze trained on Yoongi.
Yoongi was by no means a pushover, and simply swiped the jacket off his arms and onto the ground, smirk gracing his features, "I think I like your shirt better."
The brunet's eyes widened, taken aback by the not so subtle statement, and couldn't find how to respond. Instead of responding right away, Jeongguk took two boxes out of his bag and put them on Yoongi's lap.
"I picked these up on the way to school. Have them," He said with a smug look as he sat down next to Yoongi, looking like he was proud of himself for being so suave.
Yoongi just stared at Jeongguk, trying not to laugh at how cliche the whole thing was, and Jeongguk suddenly took out a hot pack and tossed it onto Yoongi's already full lap, "Don't want you to catch a cold."
"Hm, won't you catch a cold? It's pretty cold out here, and you're not wearing your jacket," Yoongi said cheekily, pressing the hot pack into Jeongguk's hands.
It seemed that the brunet didn't know how to respond, eyes darting around as he tried to keep a cool attitude, and was saved by the bell. With a quiet goodbye, Jeongguk sped off, making Yoongi snicker quietly.
When he saw Jeongguk and Taehyung sitting inside of his next class , Yoongi internally groaned, not wanting to deal with them for any longer. As soon as Taehyung spotted Yoongi, he sped over to the ravenet, taking the seat next to him and starting to chatter immediately. The ravenet had to admit that the brunet was adorable and amused him every once and awhile, but Taehyung's endless talking was getting on his nerves."Hey, she obviously doesn't want you to talk to her. Get lost," Jeongguk said sharply, glaring at Taehyung.
The brunet's eyebrows furrowed, and his cheerful smile melted as Jeongguk shoved his shoulder, "You should go to your assigned seat."
With a downcast look, Taehyung silently got up and moved seats, shooting a small glare in Jeongguk's direction when the teen's back was facing him. The sad look in the teen's eyes was pitiful, and Yoongi wasn't liking Jeongguk's attitude, as he had no reason to be such a jerk.
"That was an asshole move, y'know," Yoongi said, giving Jeongguk a sharp look.
To Yoongi's surprise, the teen's eyes looked downwards, a look of guilt spreading across his face, "Sorry..."
Silently, Jeongguk sat down at the seat in front of Yoongi, head bowed every so slightly in shame. However, Yoongi's attention was directed away from the teen sitting in front of him to the door in front of the classroom, where the Sunshine Boy had just walked through the door, making eye contact with Yoongi for a moment. With a small smile, the teen sat in the seat across the aisle across from Yoongi. After the teacher had the class study for the first ten minutes of class, he orange haired teen stood up with a book in hand, stepping towards Yoongi.
"Do... you want to..." He smiled sheepishly, looking from Yoongi to the empty seat next to him.
The ravenet patted the seat, "Have a seat next to me."
His heart smile grew into the same glowing smile he had earlier as the orange haired teen sat down next to Yoongi, "I'm Jung Hoseok. I really like poems."
Yoongi had been correct about how the boy was in fact a literature kid earlier, and Hoseok continued, "This is a poem I want to read to you."
"What kind of poem is it?" Yoongi asked with an interested tone, looking at Hoseok's blinding smile.
With a sly, teasing tone, Hoseok said, "You'll have to listen closely to find out."
Keeping a cool exterior, Yoongi tucked a strand of hair behind his ear, coyly saying, "I'll listen."
"I'll start," As Hoseok opened his mouth to speak, Taehyung sneezed loudly, making the orange haired boy jolt and an annoyed look appear on his face.
"How 'bout I read a poem title that's perfect for you?" He said to the brunet who had accidentally interrupted in a tense tone, "'Husk, Be Gone,' by Shin Dongyup."
Yoongi held back a snicker at the comment, and he could see a small, amused smile spread across Taehyung's face as well. It seemed that the smart boy had a sense of humor as well.
After Hoseok had regained his composure, he turned back to Yoongi and continued, "Let me restart. 'Prelude to the Poem for a Flower.' Kim Chunsu."
Yoongi echoed the title of the poem said with a small smile, noting how Hoseok's smile grew as he said it.
"'I am a very dangerous animal,'" He started to say, picking up an accent to make the poem more interesting.
Yoongi smirked, cocking an eyebrow, "You're an animal?"
"Yes, I am an animal," Hoseok said with a small laugh, before continuing to speak.
As Hoseok read the poem, his voice started to shake and would crack every so often, and when Yoongi looked up from the pages of the book to look at the orange haired teen, there were tears forming at the corner of his eyes. He was amazed that the poem was able to bring tears to the teen's eyes. Soon realized that Hoseok had noticed his staring, and, in an attempt to amuse Yoongi, started to act over-dramatically, sniffing loudly and letting out fake sobs.
Struck with an idea, Yoongi took out his water bottle, splashing some of it onto Hoseok's face to mimic tears. Although the sudden splash of water surprised Hoseok at first, he took it in stride, wailing out the last line of the poem, making Yoongi break out into giggles. They were quickly shushed, chastised, and sent back to their seats by the teacher, who wanted to start class.
"That was fun. Thanks for listening to my poem, Yoonji," Hoseok beamed at the ravenet, wiping away the water on his face as he took his seat.
Yoongi had to admit that it was fun, and decided that he enjoyed Hoseok's company, but knew that he couldn't get close to the other boy. He really couldn't get close to anyone, in fear of his cover being broken. But it was okay, because Yoongi was used to being alone, and being alone wasn't that bad. However, as the teacher droned on about books and as Yoongi watched Hoseok, who was intently listening to the teacher with an interested look, Yoongi couldn't help but feel sad about what may happen once he finishes his mission.
