Amarra's hands were in the air. Pale yellow energy began to form around them. Soon they looked like thin yellow ropes that quickly traveled towards me.

I dodged them. "What the hell do you want from me!" The quick hand movements I made created a smoke that hid me from view. When the smoke cleared up, my hand was around Amarra's neck. "Why are you doing this?"

"Get away from her." The man slowly walked towards us. He knew I could harm the woman before he could hex me.

"If you tell me what's going on." I tightened my grip around her neck. She was resisting. Her elbows hit my sides. So I wrapped my arms around her forearms at her back to keep her from fidgeting. "Be still, you nasty hag."

"We can play tricks, too," the man spoke with a smug tone before he spit on the ground. "Can't lay your filthy hand on my wife's skin."

"Oh, hello, husband. What's your--" Twigs encircled my ankles and pulled me away. Two more vines spiraled around my forearms. "You're good." My grin mocked them.

"We have no time for this!" Amarra yelled.

"Me too." I sneered. The vines around my hands were taut. Pulling myself free was out of the question. "What do you want from me?"

"Us?" the man said. "We don't want anything from you."

"Then let me go, you ass--"

"Someone else wants you." Amarra sure was annoyed.

"Who are you?" I squinted to express my disgust.

"We're bounty hunters." The man spit again before looking at me like I was too despicable for him. "This is not personal. We just want our money."

"Who are you working for?"

"Shut up, queer witch!" She signaled her companion to get me. "What are you waiting for, Denzo!"

"You guys need to have sex more often." I made sure my laugh was loud enough for them to hear it. "What are you going to do?"

Denzo raised his knife as Amarra waved her hands. The vines and twigs moved down. As soon as I felt my soles touch the cold asphalt I felt the tip of Denzo's knife on my neck. The vines started traveling around my body, soon tightening.

"You don't need to do this." I resisted. "I'm not going anywhere." The tip of the knife pressed against my skin.

"Talk and I'll slash your throat."

"Of course, you can't do that."

"I can kill you right here." His eyes were furious, opening wide as if they were going to come out of their sockets.

"If you could you would've done it." My smile taunted him.

"We don't have much time, Denzo." Amarra was nervous. She was looking around as if wondering if there were spectators somewhere.

"Me too. Let the curses cast upon me be uncast!" The force of my countercurse sent them into the air. Amarra fell on the ground. Denzo hit the trunk of a nearby tree before falling into the dense shrubbery. "You think I'm some witch you can toy with?"

Amarra quickly stood up, but before she could move her hands, mine were already in motion, pinning her down. I walked closer to see her resist in futility. My right hand moved in circle and steadied with my palm facing the sky. This heaved her body upright.

"Tell me what you're up to." My fingers pressed on her cheeks. Soon enough I heard noises behind me.

"Let her go!"
