"It's fine Ethan" Lynn sighed

"Is it really, L?" I inquired

She bit her cheek nodding. This action made me decide to not ask her too much about it. The thing about Lynn is that she likes to suffer in silence. No one could blame her. She had grown up in a perfect household. Perfect household meaning that everyone in town thought they had no problems. Her father was a doctor and her mother had been a lawyer until her first child was born, after that she began teaching at a university as a part time lecturer. She had become the ultimate trophy wife. The family lived in a large two story house with a perfect front yard, perfect looking paint for a perfect family. They had two children whom both were high achievers. Ever since they were young  Lindsey's mother had taught them to be perfect in public. You would never catch Alex or Lynn doing or saying anything that could make the family seem anything less than perfect.

"So who's the new kid?" I asked her lightly cocking my head towards the girl who had become the center for everyones attention.

"Her name is Angelique" Lynn said a light tint of anger in her voice "Moved here from Los Angeles or something"

"Just a wild guess" I chuckled "but it seem s you don't like her too much"

"She seems too fake and stuck up for me" Lynn sighed

"So you think she'll be one of Vic's newest zombies?" We were both looking at Angelique now, both our heads crooked to the side thinking about my comment.

Vic was short for Victoria. Victoria was the queen bee of the school, she had long auburn hair and a perfect body. She was the head cheerleader as daughter of one of the most influential people in the whole town. Victoria had a loyal following amongst her peers, a group we called Vic's zombies, because the girls who followed Victoria would almost always do her bidding without question as well as mimic any of Victorias actions.

"She has potential" Lynn said resting her chin on her palm "the expensive clothes and snake like face shows that"

We shared a laugh and turned out attention to the teacher.

As the lesson ended Lyndsey couldn't be faster to get her things and begin making her way out of the classroom. She was almost out of the class when Angie's voice rang from behind

"Wait for me"

Lynn sighed and turned around putting on a smile

"Of course" she said to the dark haired girl mentally cussing herself out for not being able to leave fast enough

Dylan could not get the girl out of his mind. He was sitting in math not able to focus on the numbers in front of him.
His fingers slid across the spot her fingers had touched his  skin when she had fixed his collar. It felt like her smell was latched to him. Sweet, Fruity. Mysterious
Like her.

He was snapped out of his daydream by a loud cough behind him. As he turned around he was met by the math teacher's stern look.
"You look occupied mr Asher" the woman said rising an eyebrow "Sorry for  interrupting you with something as useless as my subject"

The boy felt his cheeks get pinker as everyones eyes were suddenly on him.
"I'm sorry miss Pine" he looked at his math teacher biting his cheek

"Get to work,Dylan" she said walking away
The boy lowered his head, his eyes hovering over the numbers and questions in his book.

His mind did not stray from schoolwork. Until lunch.

He was sitting at his usual table, looking through his notepad. The table felt weirdly empty.

"Hey" a sweet familiar voice spoke

He looked up to see Lindsey smiling.
"Hi Lynn" he smiled, arching his neck "Where is Angie?"

Lynn had to stop herself from rolling her eyes into the back of her skull.
She sat down starting to unpack her lunch

"She's in line" she tried to hide the faint irritation in her voice "getting lunch"

His eyes shifted to the cafeteria line. searching. scanning.

As he was searching for the girl on his mind his eyes met mine.

Out of nowhere we were in a staring match, he lost because Lynn asked him a question thinking he was staring at Angie and I sighed turning away.

"Have you seen Caleb?" Lynn asked him

"Huh?" Dylan looked at her

"Have you seen Caleb today?" Lynn repeated under her nose, picking a her lunch

Caleb was Lynn's best friend. Since Dylan had become busy over the summer the two had become extra close.

Caleb and Lynn were like twins. Inseparable.

"No" Dylan said thoughtfully "he wasn't in math"

"Neither was he in history" Lynn said frowning "he doesn't answer my texts anymore"

"Im sure he's just sleeping or something" Dylan smiled

"Who's sleeping? who are we talking about?" the surgery sweet voice of Angie rang through the air.

Dylan's head instantly  snapped in her direction the moment he heard her voice.
"Angie" he smiled widely

"Hello Dyly" she smiled warmly at him "May I sit?"

"Sure" Dylan was giddy, the new girl, girl of his dreams, wanted to sit next to him.
As Angie sat down it seemed that Lynn disappeared.

"Why is the food so boring in this school?" Angie said leaning on her arm sighing

Lynn watched the boy she had fallen for be completely taken over by the girl next to her.

She looked at where Caleb would always sit ready to be met by a playful eye roll.

But he wasn't there.

"Uhm, excuse me" Lynn said getting up and rushing away.

She didn't know why she said that, no one would care. They were too interested in each other.

She walked out to the warm September morning sun, backpack over her shoulder, she walked off the school grounds and towards Caleb's house.

She needed to talk to him, to rant about how much she disliked the new snake, how every time she was around it seemed like she disappeared from Dylan's life.
She finally got to the house she spent so many summer afternoons in.

The girl knocked but no one came to answer so she grabbed the key from under the plant pot.

The house was quiet. Tranquil.

She walked up the stairs, soft music was coming from her best friends room.
She opened the door.
What she saw will forever be burned into her memory.

"CALEB!" she ran to her best friends cold body surrounded by sleeping pills
