I was three years old, when I was given a cute little German shepherd. He had one blue eye and the other was green. I grew up with him, he was my best friend. He had black and white fur, always fluffy from the constant baths my mom gave him. He was the sweetest and beat dog I've ever had. I named him Max. He was given to me when my parents were still together. There are separated now and I'm 16 now and battling through high school.
I disliked school like every other kid. If it wasn't for seeing my friends and getting rewards for my good grade I would have just stopped coming. I have a pretty average life, good grades, one of the okay people go hang out with.
That changed when I met him...
He was Asian. Pale skin, black hair, lean body, tall and all. But his eyes were a green color. Not many Asians I had seen (I haven't seen many unless in anime.) Who could pull of that look. He was nice but cold at the same time. He immediately fit in with the popular kids at school.
James.
Though to me he was kind of creepy. When ever I was around him I got these creepy vibes. When I told my friends about them they did believe but they didn't not believe me, if that makes sense. So here is how my dog went missing. My mom (who I was currently staying with in Florida) let Max out. He went to do his business and took forever.
I should have taken him out myself.
Sometimes we let Max stay out all night because he knows his way around our neighborhood and knew not to leave it. My mom tired from work goes inside and falls asleep on the couch. I was already asleep by that time, so I had no idea he was out. The next morning I woke up late, showered quickly, dressed, got my book bag, and Apple and ran to school. When I got home I was shocked to find my mom home.
Not only that but on the phone with my dad.
Now let me tell you something, my mom and dad hardly ever talked. Not Even for my birthday or special occasions. I heard her whisper into the phone that max was missing. I dropped my backpack and ran outside yelling Max's name. Thank god it was Friday because I stayed up all night looking for him. Still no luck by day rise, I decided to head home. When I got home, I burst into sobs. This dog was no ordinary dog he was my best friend. Over several weeks I put up poster and asked people if they had seen him. I got no results till I got a phone call. The person on the phone obviously was using a voice changer.
"Max, Max you are so cold.." The voice said
"Who....is...this?"
"Do you want to see May?..(dog whimpers)..Don't worry she will get a piece of you soon." The voice said before hanging up.My mom had been watching the whole thing so when I started crying out of fear and anger she came and hugged me. She patted my back and told me everything was going to be okay. I believed her ans decided that the whole thing was just a sick joke. At school my grades started going down, I started growing distant from my friends.
I was at school when I got the first piece.
The day had started out normally, well already what was normal in that time. I dragged myself out of bed, never actually falling asleep. I put on whatever clean clothes I had, not bothering to match or look nice. I skipped breakfast and headed to school, I was late like every single day since Max went missing. The teachers were probably fed up with it by now but they said nothing seeing how fragile I was then. I went to my locker, put in the combo in slowly not caring that I was late to class.
I opened it and automatically put my hand in to grab what I needed...I should have looked first.
My hand felt something soft, it was slightly moist, confused I pulled it out. It was a dogs ear...with black and white fur, there was blood along the edge. I screamed and dropped it stumbling backward and collided with the lockers behind me. I happened to look over at a dark part of the hallway. There was a small red light like that of a camera, my eyes widened and I was about to yell again. At that moment a teacher came out of the nearby classroom. "Are you alright?" He asked but his voice sounded faded. All I could do was stare at that corner, then the students and more teachers came out of the classrooms.
I should have yelled...the red light was lost in the crowd.
I woke up in the nurses office, I could hear my mom, the principal and a couple other voices. One voice stood out out of all of them, it was more angry then the others, and it wasn't my mothers.
"Dad?"
I heard foot steps and the curtain that surrounded me was suddenly yanked back. My father who I hadn't seen in years was standing there. He gave me a small smile "Hey, Sun shine." That did it I stood up and ran into his arms crying. I always told myself that I hated my father and that if I ever saw him again I would curse him out. All I could do was cry, in the end he was still my dad and there would always be a part of me that loved him.
The day passed, my dad left not without talking to my mom in private first though. He gave me a kiss on the head, I was upset he was leaving. A small part of me wanted my family to get back together. I knew they were trying to distract me from what happened but the memory was burned in my brain. All I could see...was that ear.
