•Alexia's pov•
Smiles can hide a lot.. How broken we are, how depressed we are inside, and.. much, much more. Someone can seem like the happiest person on earth, but be slowly eaten away inside.. you can only stay happy for so long.
Well, so I thought. Every day for me was just that. A day. Not less, not more.. Each day seemed to drag on more and more. I felt like my days were slowly becoming infinite. I was slowly becoming more and more saddened. Until I met them. It's funny how a group of people can flip your life upside down–even just one person.
The day highschool began, was the day my life changed. The start of an amazing rest of my life.
first day of highschool•
I never was talkative.. I hated big crowds.. I was an antisocial mess. Not much to it. My mother insisted that it would be okay. She brushed my hair at 5:00 am sharp. "Dear, stop worrying.. you'll do amazing." My mother stated, trying to calm me down.
I was still in my pajamas. "I know, mom.. but it's not the work I'm nervous for. It's the–the people.." I frowned.
She looked at me in the mirror, giving that classic mom-smile. "I was nervous just like you.." Mom gave a small laugh, "but look, I'm fine!"
"..It was different for you.." I said. "You were talkative. You always told me about that."
"I know you can do it, sweetheart. Now go get dressed.. I'm going to get breakfast ready." Mom stated, setting down the brush and running out of my room.
She got up earlier than me.. always wanting to help me out in the mornings. It was a mom-thing, I guess. I raced to my closet, scanning my clothes. I wanted my outfit to make a good first impression. Clothes are one of the first things someone notices on you..
I rolled my eyes, groaning. I always had trouble with finding clothes. I needed to start planning outfits the night before or something. I grab skinny jeans, a white frilly shirt, and a leather jacket. After getting dressed, I pin back a strand of my hair that I twirled. I raced downstairs, seeing my backpack and shoes ready to go, it brought a smile to my face. Turning to the kitchen, I see my mom placing breakfast on a plate.
"Too bad dad is on that business trip.. normally he'd be here to say bye.." I said, frowning and grabbing a plate. I sat on one of the barstools.
"Yeah, I know.." Mom frowned, "he'll be back soon enough though."
"Yep and then he'll have another.." I rolled my eyes. Dad was always on business trips, and when he wasn't he was so strict.
"Be more optimistic.. what did I tell you!" Mom crossed her arms. "Now eat your breakfast and head to school. I won't have you being late." She walked off.
I poked my fork into the eggs she'd served. Yolk suddenly oozed out. "..." I was never hungry in the mornings. I looked in the direction my mom had went, then sprinted towards the trash can, dumping the contents. What she didn't know wouldn't kill her.. I just felt sick–she wouldn't let that fly.
I walked towards my backpack, picking it up. Slipping on my shoes, I turn to scream, "Mom, I'm heading to school!!" It was going to be the first walk of many.
"Okay, dear!! Have a good day!!" Mom screamed back.
I faced the door, opening it and closing it behind me. The wind whooshed in my face, making me shiver. It wasn't that cold, but the wind was a bit chilly.
I headed to the sidewalk, walking along it. I had my schedule and locker combination all ready. As I walked, I noticed someone pushing around another girl.
The one doing the shoving was a blonde—you could tell it was dyed. She seemed fake.. the basic bitch you'd see in a movie. She had two other fakes with her. Some Meif~wa and some pink haired girl.
The one being pushed wasn't fake at all. She was actually gorgeous. Her hair was violet purple and her eyes were bright blue. She had a very good fashion sense as well.
I stared. I hated being a bystander, but I didn't have much confidence to stand up against others.. Although, I got lucky this time around. I knew that bully. Rachel, my cousin. I walked over, narrowing my eyes. "Rachel, what are you doing?" I asked, my voice wavering.
Rachel stopped, turning to me. "Alexia!! I haven't seen you in ages!!" She grinned. "Still ugly as ever. What's that? Fake leather?"
I crossed my arms. "Ha. Ha. Now leave the poor girl alone!" I've learned to cope with her rudeness over the years. Mom said to ignore her.
"What? Her?" Rachel points to the violet haired girl.
The girl rolled her eyes. "Yes, me! I'm gonna be late!!"
"Oh, shut it, Mythy." Rachel scoffed.
I growled, "Rachel, don't make me tell your dad. I thought you wanted that new Gucci purse?" I tilted my head, smiling innocently.
Rachel scowled. "You got lucky, bitch." She snapped to the girl, before storming off with her minions.
The girl looked towards me. "Thanks.." She narrowed her eyes. I could tell she was shy like me.
I smiled. "It's no problem.. she's a bitch, anyway. Just ignore her." I laughed and extended my hand. "I'm Alexia. Alexia Phoenix."
She shook my hand. "Mythera.. Winters." She smiled shyly. "But some people call me Myth for short."
"It's nice to meet you." I draw my hand back. "Are you a freshman, too?"
She nods. "Is it obvious?" Mythera laughed.
"Mm.. Probably only because I'm one. Anyway! It's nice to meet a fellow member." I stuck my tongue out. "..I'm glad to have met someone, honestly.. I'm sort of shy."
Mythera raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, me too.." She looked towards the school. "Oh, shoot!! I'm gonna be—"
"School doesn't start for another.. twenty minutes." I mumbled, looking at the time on my phone. "The walk should only take two more."
"Yeah, but.. I'm meeting a friend." Mythera sighed. "We wanted to meet earlier on so we could go over our schedules."
"I see.." I bit my lip. "I know a shortcut! Follow me!" I grabbed her wrist, dragging her after me. I ran towards the school, but took a turn, then another.
Mythera's eyes were wide by the time we reached the school. I glanced at my phone. "New record, one minute!" I winked.
"Great, thank you!" Mythera looked around. "Now to find him.. where is he?" She murmured.
"What do they look like?" I asked, glancing around. I wanted to help.
"They aren't hard to miss.. White hair, green eyes.." Mythera trailed off, seeing him. "There he is!" She pulled me after her towards him. He was with some brown haired boy. "Travis!!"
The white haired boy—I'm assuming Travis, turned. "There you are!" He hugged Mythera. "I was worried you'd stood me up.." He pouted.
"Nope, just ran into some.. er.. trouble?" Mythera coughed. "Who's this?" She glanced towards the brown haired boy.
"I could ask you the same question.." Travis looked at me, making me gulp.
"Oh, this is Alexia." Mythera introduced. "We met on my way here." She smiled.
"Nice." Travis waved at me, then introduced his friend. "This is Laurance. Him and I met over the summer." He patted Laurance's shoulder.
Laurance smiled. "Hey."
Mythera nodded. "Nice to meet you.." She narrowed her eyes.
I stared at Laurance for a moment. He seemed.. nice. I started smiling like an idiot.

From that moment on, we were all amazing friends. We made each other laugh, smile, even cry, sadly. Then some of us made the mistakes of falling in love for each other.

"No, you can't!!" I laughed, shaking my head. Travis was trying to throw an empty water bottle into a trash can. He had terrible aim.. you could tell by any of the bathrooms he went in..
"I agree with Alexia on this one. No way it's happening." Laurance crossed his arms, snorting.
"You doubt me?" Travis gasped. "Myth, you believe in me, don'tcha?"
Mythera rolled her eyes. "Not even the slightest, but go for it. Mama wants her ten bucks!"
"Wait, who's betting for me to actually get it in.." Travis' eyes widened.
"Just you. So if you don't you're paying us all five bucks, bud." Laurance winked at Travis.
Travis huffed and closed his eyes. "Lemme get in the zone.." He mumbled, giving a low humming noise.
"Oh my god." Mythera facepalmed. "You're.. special, Travis."
"I know I am." Travis said quickly, before returning to humming. He opened his eyes, shooting the water bottle into the trash can. As it was about to go in, a certain someone hit it away. "Interference!!" Travis screamed.
Kaden walked over, smirking like a madman. "Oops?"
"Piss of." Travis layed his head in his hand. "Your presence is already ruining my mood."
"Aw, too bad I'm not here for you." Kaden rolled his eyes, pushing Travis over and sitting by Mythera. "Hey, babe."
Mythera smiled, placing a kiss on his lips. Oh yeah.. that's her boyfriend, which I failed to mention. A couple months into school they started dating. She had a huge crush on him at the beginning of the year. "Hey.." She finally replied, after their mouths were separated.
Travis did the puke sign, where you put your finger in your mouth. "Gross.."
"He wishes that was him." Laurance whispers to me, chuckling.
"Poor guy.." I looked towards Laurance. "but he should've told her how he felt.."
Laurance flinched for a moment. "..right.." He mumbled.
Kaden put his arm around Mythera. "Soo.. how is everyone?" He asks smirking.
"I was fine before you came." Travis whispers.
"Greeeet.." Laurance mumbles.
"..yeah." I agree, coughing. Things with Kaden were awkward. He was the type of guy where he wouldn't talk to Mythera's friends, us, unless he had to.
"That's.. good." Kaden kisses Mythera's head. "I have practice after-school." He frowns.
"Aw.. I wanted you to join us for our movie night though.." Mythera looked down. Every now and then we'd have a movie night. Each time it'd change to each of our houses—whichever was available. The one available this time was Laurance's. I actually liked going to his house.. his dad was super nice and funny, and his sister had amazing fashion making skills. Every time we'd have a movie night though, we'd end up sleeping over at whomever's house.
"Sorry, maybe next time?" Kaden stood up.
Mythera looks away, "That's what you said last time.." She wasn't wrong. He never really went on dates with her, only a school relationship. Well, not even. He'd see her sometimes and completely ignore her. It was weird.. I had suspicions about him. All of us did—including Travis who wasn't afraid to speak them aloud.
"Sorry, babe." Kaden walks off to his friends, not saying a word more.
Mythera leaned on her hand, frowning. "I'm sure he'll join us next time.." She mutters, not even seeming to believe herself.
"It'll still be fun the four of us." Travis says, smiling.
"Yeah." Mythera traces shapes onto the table with her finger. "I guess.."
The bell rang, signaling lunch was over. We only had a few more periods before we could all go home, get dressed, and head to Laurance's house.
