Chapter 1
(My vision of what Taylor would look like..the gorgeous Adam Gregory--->)
Taylor
“Taylor, Taylor…Mon Cherie, where are you?” I heard my Grandmother’s sweet little voice calling me but I just need to add one more command to this program and viola, all of the payroll taxes will be calibrated automatically so our employees can file their yearly taxes with a peace of mind.
“Coming Grand-mere,” I called out to her so that she wouldn’t think I was ignoring her. I set the last of the instructions on the program and pressed save before I got up and dashed up the little hallway leading into the kitchen with its industrial ovens and cook tops. The closer I got to it was the warmer I got. I was glad that the back door was open and the huge fans were circulating the brisk January air throughout the heated kitchen.
I looked around the kitchen but I didn’t see her amongst the two chefs or the wait staff bustling around getting ready to the lunch time crunch. Breakfast was over about an hour ago and between the pastries and donuts that the business offered and the actual patrons that had the time to sit and eat, it was gearing up to be a very lucrative day.
As I was passing by one of the Chefs, a pretty little thing and my best friend Caitlin, she quickly popped a scrumptious piece of Éclair au Chocolat in my mouth and I had to stop and close my eyes to savor the decadent milk chocolate nestled in a fluffy shell of puff pastry.
“Perfection.” I complimented her and watched her blush and giggle before setting off to find my Grand-mere.
I tried my best not indulge because it would be hazardous to my sexy little body. And let me tell you working here was a real test to my will power. I grew up with chefs. That meant that I have a healthy appetite and I have eaten very well over the years. Nope, there was no fast food in our house, I could promise you that.
I made into the dining room and I patted my Grand-pere on his shoulder as I walked past him sitting at one of the tables sampling the soups that were to be served on this afternoons’ lunch menu. He looked up and smiled fondly at me before going back to what he was doing and his conversation with one of the chefs.
I was elated that they didn’t have to work so hard anymore, that they didn’t have to be on their feet for more than sixteen hours a day like they did when they first started out. We have a very competent staff of chefs, pastry chefs, and servers. Most of them trained or began their training right here by my grandparents before going off to culinary school. Caitlin was currently in school but she had afternoon classes and she perfected her skill her as a pastry chef in training from the early hours of the morning until about noon time.
I rounded the corner of the display case and I finally found my Grand-mere standing at the counter slicing a decadent Chocolate cake into serving slices. I leaned over and kissed her on her delicate cheek and I quickly inhaled her comforting scent. Roses, I will always equate the scent of those exquisite flowers to her. She was like a Rose, completely gorgeous but her thorns were prominent if you ever crossed her or anyone that she cared for.
“I am at your service Mademoiselle.” I stated as I gave her an elegant bow worthy of the royalty that she was. She was indeed my Queen.
“Un si bon garcon.” She said (such a good boy) in French, then she reverted back to English. “I have an appointment this afternoon, a consultation for a Wedding Cake, but unfortunately I double booked myself and I can’t get another reschedule of my yearly mammogram, so I need for you to handle it for me, my sweet boy.”
