BEFORE:
The more I listened to the teacher at the front of the room, the more impatient I grew. Her cheery attitude only seemed to make my level of irritation grow. It was 7 a.m. for gods sake. If you're this hyper in the morning, you either live on another planet or aren't human.
Waiting for the bell to ring was like waiting for paint to dry. I sat on the edge of my seat and stared at the clock. Apparently it was said that if you stared at the clock hard enough, time would go faster. Cue the sarcasm in that. It was definitely not working cause the teacher was still talking.
Although Mrs. Johnson had always been like that in the morning for the three years I had been here, it was always a mystery as to how she wasn't talking to us in that monotone voice that all of the other teachers seemed to naturally posses. Rumors said that she might be on drugs, or alcohol, or both. I didn't think too much into it. I was staring too hard at the clock and the people's faces all around me.
Alexx Sky sat facing straight ahead, completely oblivious of my staring. Under the lights of the classroom, his bright blue eyes seemed to show a bit of gold in them. They swirled different colors every time I looked. But eventually they always went back to this color between a deep blue and a light blue. His black hair was messy, as if he had run his hands through it several times. His expression mirrored boredom and I wondered what he was thinking about. He didn't seem to like this class, much like his other friends who also looked like they were going to start drooling soon.
When Alexx started to turn his head during a huge stretch, that by the way made me drool a bit too, I turned away. In my peripheral vision I could see him looking at the faces of the people around him like I had just been doing. I wondered if he had ever glanced my way. I internally laughed in my head. There was no way that someone from Paul King's group would ever give me the time of day, let alone a single glance.
I thought for a moment how overwhelming it would be to be looked at by those bright blue pools of mystery. I didn't think about it for long.
It always seemed weird to stare at Alexx. Given that his twin brother, Damon Sky, was the complete opposite of him. Well actually, I say twins but you would have to look closely to know that Damon's hair was a little longer than Alexx's and his eyes were a weird shade of purple instead of bright blue. Something odd with a mutation or something. I didn't know.
One thing I did know, however, is that Damon liked to be on the wild side. Unlike Alexx, Damon was known as "The One Who Gets Away With Everything And Never Gets Caught" guy at our school . Not the criminal type, really. More like the I'm-So-Hot-And-I-Get-Good-Grades-And-I-Hate-Everybody kind of thing. People stayed away from him mostly because he scared the shit out of everyone. And he was hot. Like Armani Model hot.
It was actually funny to think about how different they are. Alexx was soft looking and kissable and confident in all the best ways. While Damon was rough looking and quiet and completely overconfident. Alexx hung out with the populars and Damon was aloof and mostly by himself. Alexx wore nice shirts with Sperry's and Damon wore combat boots. And although I hated giving into stereotypical things, I had to admit that I had the biggest crush on Alexx Sky.
Not that I drooled over him in class but I had to say that he was really something to look at. He always looked bored and extremely uninterested. He seemed to have absolutely no fascination with literature. Sadly, this was my only class with him. I glanced at Alexx again. He seemed to be focusing on something above the board. I wondered what it would feel like to-
"Ms. Hamilton?" the chewing on my pen stopped momentarily and I blinked a couple of times.
"Yes?" I asked. I cleared my throat. I sounded like an 80-year-old cigarette smoker. Awesome.
