"We'll have a sleep over at my house tonight," Katie told Charlie as she hopped in our car.
"It's Friday and I want to spend my Friday night with my bestfriend," she added and gave me a secret wink. I tried to hide my laughter by pressing my lips together tightly.
Charlie is hesitant. He doesn't know what to say. "Mrs. Grey might not approved to this."
"Oh, come on! Mrs Grey knows me and I'm sure she'll allow Emily if you'll tell her my name. Besides, don't you want Emily to be happy and comfortable for once?" She tries to persuade Charlie more.
"Come on, Charlie! Pretty please?" she batted her eye lashes which made Charlie chuckle.
"Alright, we'll head straight to your house. Anyway, Mrs Grey won't be home tonight," he smiles at me through the rare view mirror.
"Alright!" she suddenly hug Charlie which made him laugh. "I knew we can count on you."

"I told you you should trust me on this," Katie proudly said as soon as we arrived at her house. After greeting her parents, who actually allowed her to join the party and have fun, we went up to her room.
"Now let's see. The party starts at 7. It's now 6:15. First things first, let's get you dressed," she excitedly said and went to her closet.
"But I'm already dressed..."
She looks at me sternly. "Duh, Emily. You are going to attend a party not a church gathering."
"Then let me call Baba Nancy and tell her to prepare some clothes for me," I was about to fish my phone in my bag but she stopped me.
"Nah-ah," she lightly push me until I sit on her bed. "Just wait for me there. Let me handle your look for tonight."

"I can't believe I'm doing this," I blurted out as we went inside Jed's house. I actually have to shout it out since the music is in full blast.
"You have to. Just enjoy the night, Em," Katie shouted as well.
We squeezed through these people who now smell like alcohol and sweat mixed together. Music pounded my head from its loudness and I could hardly open my eyes. As we made our way to the dancing crowd, Katie immediately danced to the rythm as I stood still, just looking at these people enjoying their night.
A hand slip around my waist, I blink my eyes twice as I look to my right to check whose hand is that. It's Jed and he's giving me a wide smile.
"Glad you came!" he shouted through the loud music. He looks at me from head to toe and it intimidates me.
"You look different tonight."
"I feel the same way."
"It looks good on you. Different is good sometimes," he chuckled. "Let me get you some drinks."
"No, I'm fine," I refused. I don't want to be away from Katie.
"Come on, enjoy the night. Look at your friend..." I look at Katie and she dances like she have never danced before. "You have to loosen up."
He's right. All this time I've been called the perfect daughter. They look up to me like I'm a saint. I want to enjoy my life even this once.
"Sure," I bravely smile at him.
"That's the spirit!"
He guided me to the kitchen where the drinks are. He got one bottle of beer, opened it, and gave it to me.
