The Phone wouldn't stop ringing even as Denny woke at groaning and looked irritably at the phone . He He then sighed peacefully and went back into his slumber as his Mom hurried to pick up the phone.when his Mom picked up the phone she stood shocked as if a train had hit her , then she started to shout and was fainted when the family members walked in . Seeing her in such a state they hurried to revive her . When she finally finally gained consciousness she cried out , words tumbling out of her mouth in a rush " he has topped " , They asked " Who?, What? " , She replied " Our son Denny has topped the IIT Exams with 99% . The Family members consisting of Denny's Father , Sister and Grandmother couldn't believe their ears . They stood like a bunch of jokers , their mouths forming perfect "O" 's . The only thought that seemed to run through their mind was " Our Son has topped the Exams " , Slowly digesting this news they exploded , crying and laughing like a group of mad people . When they got over the euphoria ,they swivelled around and looked at still supine figure of Denny who had slept like a log through the ruckus . They were about to wake him up when his dad cried " Wait ! Lets break him the news tomorrow at his Birthday .
"Son what have You done " , " Brother we hadn't expected this from you " was all Danny heard when he got up . he could believe that he had ailed his examination after months of hard work and dedication . A black cloud of sorrow and anger descended and he ran into his room banging the door and sobbing uncontrollably .He felt as if a someone had torn his heart out . " Curse them all " he cried out and then dropped into a endless sleep
Next day on his birthday when his parents opened his room door intending to surprise him they instead found his dead body hanging form the ceiling fan and the words " I FAILED " scrawled on his bedroom wall . Later at his Funeral his visibly aged parents looked at each other and said " IF ONLY WE HAD TOLD HIM"
