Up and down and all around, high school as we know it is a roller coaster ride. And to my experience, it was in extreme mode as I stepped on the first year till the day I step on the stage to get my diploma. Experiencing this ride with me was with my best friend, Jane. She was always there from the start cheering me to do everything that I have to do. I love it when she always say, “Go Nikki! You can to it! I’ve got your back!”
We knew each other from the first day of our first year and have been the company of each other since the last days of it. We share tons of secrets to each other, a lot of funny instances especially with our group of friends. We also talk about our crushes, every girl has one and so do we. As the year nearly ends, one guys started to show motive toward Jane. He was known as a mysterious type of guy, but it was also said the he is arrogant and was a playboy. Maybe you were asking how we knew that it was him, well as the pioneer batch of our school we are close to Manong Guard and he was the one to tell us that it was Carl who is crushing on our friend Jane.
Months passed so fast and we are already in our Sophomore year. Jane was not my classmate anymore, she’s already on the first section while I got to stay on the second. It was then that I knew that she has the same section with Carl. But she told me that he never really showed the same motive anymore. Ok, what just happened to him?
On the middle of August, Jane talked to me and told me that Carl is already talking to her and he was asking if he could be her friend.
“Yii, that’s cool at least he has to step in and get to know you first, right?” I told her.
“Yes, I guess.”
“Do you also like him?”
“He’s good looking and all but I have to know if he really is arrogant. We don’t want to get involve with those kind of people you know.” Ok, this doesn’t seem to be like her. I can smell sarcasm in her voice.
“Weh?”
“Tss, of course I was just kidding! I think I kinda like him too.” Ha-ha! I knew it!
“Just don’t fall too hard to fast on him, ok?”
“Sure, thanks Nikki!”
After our small talk we went back to our own classrooms.
Days pass a little bit faster and I can see that Jane and Carl are already hanging out quite well, but there’s still hesitation on Jane’s part because she said that maybe I will be angry with her. What’s my reason to be angry anyway?
After some time, I finally decided to figure out if Carl is really the person he was rumoured to be. I started texting him. Of course, Jane knows about this. And quite true enough, I proved that he was never really an arrogant guy. Well he could boast a little every now and then but most of the time he was just joking around. I was also giving some tips for him about Jane, but he only says that he is still preparing his self in courting her.
The three of us continued to hang out, and as the New Year starts Carl already decided that he will start courting Jane. I was so happy that finally he came to his right mind on this! Because Jane’s feelings for him already grew. Since they were friends for a long time already, the courtship didn’t last too long. By the end of January they are already confirmed to be a couple.
They were the happiest couple for the past three months. It’s already our summer vacation after our second year in high school, since we don’t see each other that often; a complication about their relationship came.
“Nikki, I don’t know what to do already. He was acting like a fool for the past few weeks already.”
“Have you asked him what really the problem is?”
