Brian saw the blade touch her throat. "Levi!?"
She turned and looked at him, tears streaming. She looked terrified and broken. Levi's eyes turned cold and she stepped back.
" Levi don't," Brian started. "It's not ..."
"It's not what," she interrupted. "It's not whats cool, or do just want to keep your easy target?" She gave him a cold glare.
Brian's face softened a bit more. "It's not worth it. It wont change anything. Believe me I tried, but something held me back. I mean, think about Mathews sister, Mary. What is she going to think when finds out that she lost you too. She loves you like a sister Levi, don't do this to her."
"What do you care? I'm just your easy target." Levi's eyes flared.
" I'm sorry ok. I was a jerk. I hurt you severely, I know."
" Then why?"
" It was my way to release the pain. " he pulled up his long sleeve off his wrist and up his arm. There were cuts and bruises and even some burns. " I did some of these. My dad did the rest. He beats me up almost every day." A tear rolled down his cheek. " he's cut me so badly once that I couldn't go to school for a few days. For a while, Adam would protect me, but eventually that stopped. Beating on you is how I let it all out. And I'm sorry, Levi. I'm so sorry I did that to you. But will you please hand me the blade. Please, Levi."
Shakily she handed it to Brian, then started sobbing. Brian wrapped her in a hug. She tried to get away, but just gave in. Levi let it all out. Her dad leaving, her mom not caring, even the pain that Brian caused her and that of losing her best friend. Brian just held here tight. Somehow, she felt safe.
