A gust of smoke raced up my lungs as I opened my unlocked bedroom window, I instantly dropped my bag outside and started coughing as I enter my bedroom. I look around my bedroom and saw no fire so I walk around my home looking for the fire. My eyes start to  burn from all of the smoke that was floating around the house. I  saw the soft glow of the fire when Lilian drove up to my house, and all I wanted to do was to make sure my parents were safe.

"Mom! Dad!" I scream worriedly, where were they? I cough more as more smoke filled my lungs. I held my long sleeved jacket over my nose as I went to their bedroom. I felt their door and it was burning hot. My insides crumble as I realized my parents were in there with the fire. I call out their names multiple times, but no one answers. I pound  hard against the door with my two balled up fists, my hands hurt every time they came in contact with the burning door. I try to push it open, or break the door at least but I had no luck. The smoke alarm pierces my eardrums, I fumble with my phone trying to get it out of my pocket and call 911.

"Hello, this is 911 please state your emergency." The female operator spoke with calmness.

"M-my house is on fire," I say.

"Ma'am stay calm and please try and get out we will send help, what is your addresses and name ma'am?"

"I'm Stacey Cruzer and I live in 34 Holand Drive."

"Stacey please get out of the house if you can we will send help." She states again, still calm.

"I can't my parents are trapped in there room, I need to help them."

"No, please leave them. We will send help, we don't want-"My phone dies and cuts her off.

I was starting to feel dizzy as I saw the flames start to spill out of my parents' bedroom. I ran to my room grabbing a duffel bag and shoving some clothes in it, I grab my laptop and shoved it in there also. I look around quickly to see if I could shove anything else into the large duffle bag. I knew if the firemen couldn't get here in time my room would be engulfed in flames and I need to preserve anything I could. I grabbed my journal and threw it in the bag quickly, I leap out of my bedroom window leaving my parents and everything else in the house.

I suck in the fresh air, my lungs were burning and my eyes felt dry. I grab my duffle bag and my other bag I had left outside and ran across the street trying to get as far away from the house as possible. I felt my phone jabbing me as I ran to the empty field across my house. I saw the firemen park their truck and leap out as soon as they parked. A few of them began to pull out the long fire hose while two were looking around, they shined a flashlight on me and I waved my arms motioning for them to come over. The two of them started jogging towards me. I could see the flames as the swallowed my house, and the firemen were fumbling as they tried to put it out, they're not used to all of this.

The two tall, well-built men stopped in front of me.

"Are you alright?" The deep voice asks.

"I-I think so." I mutter softly, my throat felt super dry and it hurt to talk.

"Is anyone in that house?" Another voice asks.

"Yes my parents. Please get them out! I can't lose them!" I say as I felt the warm tears trailing down my face. It was then when realization sunk in, that my parents were in there. Possibly burning, possibly dead. I couldn't handle it. I bust out into a sob as one of the fire men began to pat my shoulder, telling me it would be okay but I knew for sure it wouldn't. I'm 16, not 6, I'm not going to believe in the best when I know the worst possible thing is happening.

"It will be okay, we will get your parents out safely." The deep voice spoke as he tries to soothe me. I just continue to cry, the ambulance arrived and did a few test on me to make sure I was alright. They gave me a bottle of water that I gulped down quickly, my lungs still burned from the small amount of smoke. I sat there on the ambulance truck, waiting for them to put the fire out. I clenched my two bags, staring at my house.
