the teen woke up to the sound of a wolf pup bawling. he arose, startled. he suddenly felt a paw on his back, the same that he had felt when he had blacked out. "why, hello, there," it was a long and slurring voice. maisha eyed him up and down, he was a black wolf.

"you pushed me down the cliff, remember?" the wolf had a growl in his throat. he began to circle maisha. the lions tail went in between his legs and his ears turned down. "sir-" the wolf cackled. "no need. we need someone as strong as you in the pack," he nodded to a grey wolf, who went off into the shadows.

"where are you taking m-me?" maisha stuttered, gazing up at the wolf with broad orbs. "none of your business-" the wolf didn't finish as a python approached. "ah, here," he pushed maisha forward, but a chocolate-coloured pelted wolf whacked the snake back.

"no!" he cried; "you mustn't! he doesn't deserve it." the wolf sighed before pulling maisha away from the other wolf. "everton!" he snarled, but everton maintained maisha in his paws. "leave off, shadow." he growled a little. "never! let him... go!" shadow snapped at everton.

maisha suddenly slapped shadows face with his paw. maisha and everton dashed away. they could hear shadows paws edging nearer. "maisha! go ahead!" everton skidded and blocked shadow from following maisha. the teen could hear bellowing from behind him as he ran. maisha darted into a small cave at the bottom of shadows lair.

the teenager longed for everton's return, but he never came back. maisha waited long for him, but he just gave up. he knew what had happened. maisha had tried to avoid shadow at all costs.

"hey there," one day a lioness in her middlescence appeared at the foot of his cave. "w-who are you?" maisha backed up into a corner. "could... i stay here tonight? please..." maisha frowned but nodded. "what happened to you?" he eyed her scars. "it's... a long story," she muttered.

"and... william now wants to kill me," she sighed and shifted uncomfortably. maisha planted his paw onto hers and made a slight smile. "im maisha, by the way," he smirked. "im cassie," the lioness smiled at him.

there suddenly was an uneasy pause. maisha eyed cassie, who was thinking deeply. "wait... did you say... maisha?" she suddenly inquired. "why... yes," he spoke softly. "...why?" he tilted his head and couched his eyebrows. "oh my god..." droplets were appearing in her eyes now. she stood up, and embraced him.

"...mother?" maisha could hardly assume that this was happening. "my word!" he began to prance about delightedly. the lioness beamed proudly at her son, seeing how he had grown into a handsome young man.
