Chapter 5

(Niall's POV)

~Night of the X Factor Auditions~

This is it. I'm one step closer to living my dream. My family's watching me. There were a lot of other boys here. I think I can remember some of their names, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, & Harry Styles is all I can remember.

It's my turn to go on. I went on and there was Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole, & Katy Perry. I sang So Sick. Louis liked me, while on the other hand, Cheryl & Katy thought I needed time to grow. Louis & Simon said yes, and Cheryl said no. My fate was left up to Katy. I held my breath.

"Yes." said Katy.

Yes!!! I'm in!!! I can't believe this!! I started jump around the stage. Oh god, I'm so happy. If only I could the looks on Eric & Lauren's faces. Man I miss them.

~Next week at Bootcamp~

I sang Champagne Supernova. I failed to move on to the "Boys" category. I felt crush. The journey ended so soon. Then, the guest judge, Nicole Scherzinger, started talking with the other judges. She started to call names.

"Louis Tomlinson. Zayn Malik. Liam Payne. Harry Styles. And Niall Horan."

I stepped forward along with the other four boys whose names were called. They failed to move on in the competition too. Nicole said that we should be put into a group. They said we were too good to let go and the other judges agreed with Nicole. Yes! There's still a chance! Harry came up with the group name, One Direction. I thought we should be called, Niall and the Potatoes. The other boys and i got to know each other a little better, and I have to say, their pretty awesome guys.

~Final week of the X Factor~

We've made it through the X Factor, and today was the finals. The lads and I sound good together. We've gotten closer with each other. We sang our final song. (I don't know what song they sang, sorry!) We placed third in the competition behind Rebecca Ferguson & Matt Cardle. When we were asked what One Direction was going to do next, Zayn said,

"We're still going to stick together. This isn't the last of One Direction."

Or something like that. I looked at my phone. No text messages. I haven't gotten any texts from Eric or Lauren. That's weird. This has been going on for weeks, and I'm starting to get a little worried. They weren't able to come visit, because the flights were canceled. They won't answer my calls. It seems that they just cut off connection with me.

~Three years later~

Man, One Direction is like the biggest band in 37 countries! We have three albums out and many top ten singles! But, one thing still bugs me. I haven't heard or seen Eric or Lauren in THREE FUCKING YEARS! I go home often to visit, but they're never there. Dad is only there. He said that the year they heard we got a record deal, Lauren, Eric, & Aiden disappeared. The cops stopped looking for them because they couldn't find them anywhere. Dad couldn't find them anywhere. he looked for them nonstop. This got me into panic mode. I tried looking for them myself and I couldn't find them. The lads don't know I have any siblings. They think I'm an only child. Well today I'm going to tell them, cause I need their help. I walked to Louis' flat. Everyone else was there.

"Hey, Nialler." said Zayn.

"Hey." I said. "I need to tell you guys something. I've been keeping this from you for three years. I'm not an only child."

I told them about Eric & Lauren. I told them everything. I told them about Lauren's troubled past. I told them that they've disappeared and that I needed their help.

"Why would you tell us this now?" Liam asked.
