Song of the chapter : Lost Boy by Ruth B.

"I promise that you'll never be lonely,".

• Rosalie Scott •

I utterly distaste the word 'Hospital'.

Aria and I took a cab as soon as she was back to normal. She had been staring at the table for a good amount of time before she told me who got hurt.

"Clifford. He's been in a car accident. Adam's on his way to the hospital." She explained blankly, shivering from something that was not cold. "Rose? What if he's–" She didn't finish her question. I didn't let her.

"Don't. Don't think like that." I didn't know what to do. To panic, Because a friend of mine could be in a bad state? Or help calm down Aria, who was going to bite her fingers off. Both of us stood up and got out of the café.

She breathed heavily, unsteadily, it was concerning. "What– wh–what if something happens to him?" She stuttered, "He just got back, again. He can't– Who's going to tease me?" She asked, My eyes softened. "Who's going to tell me some annoying pickup lines just to try to get a laugh off of me?"

My heart hurt. I knew it then. Aria and Clifford's story was summarized in what she said.

"He will." I answered her questions as I stopped a cab.

***

We met Adam at the reception. The woman sitting there was just telling him in what room Clifford was. Aria, as soon as she heard the number, ran through the corridors. I ran after her, calling her name.

When she finally stopped in front of a door, she stood still glaring at it. Her had was hanging in the air, hesitating to grab the handle. Shaking her head, she gave a quick knock and opened the door, I entered after her, Adam was behind me.

"Ay! Bloody hell. You call that knocking? Nosy little—" A familiar voice exclaimed angrily before melting down, "Aria? What are you doing here?"

When Aria had removed the curtains, we all stared at Clifford lying on a hospital bed. He looked fine, except for the bruises on his face, and the fact that his left leg was literally wrapped in white material and was hanging in the air.

"What a nice surprise! How come you're all here?" He grinned at all of us, we all stared at him, gaping. Clifford chuckled, "did a cat eat your tongues or something? Hello!"

It was Aria who broke out of her shock first. "what a nice surprise?" She repeated, Adam and I took a step back automatically. Cliff gulped, "What a nice surprise?" She repeated again. "Do  you have any idea what I've been thinking all the way here?!" She yelled at him, "all that horrible images, while you're here, fine enough that you were going to cuss whoever that didn't knock well?" She took large steps toward him, he tensed.

"You jerk! You made me– us worried! What were you thinking!" She was hitting him on his shoulder, while he hissed in pain. "Don't you know what a seatbelt is? Because a freaking infant would know!" Aria looked so angry that I was afraid to try and calm her down. She turned to look at us, "I'll be in the cafeteria, waiting," she turned on her heels and walked out of the room.

Adam and I both exchanged glances, both extremely surprised by what just happened. Then, we turned our heads to the bruised looking Clifford, "What. Was. That?" Cliff asked.

"I've no idea," Adam muttered, "but hey! What the hell happened to you?"

Clifford rolled his eyes, and waved his hand off, "It was nothing! Calvin and I were just doing a little race," Calvin? Is he– "That's when it turned into a fiasco. That bastard and his car didn't even get a scratch. What a lucky son of—"
