Damien woke up the next day to someone poking him again, he was about to yell at said person but when he opened his eyes he saw Ash, not Vander or Sylvia.
“Damien, we’re basically family now. I’m letting you stay here of my own free will and I don’t mind having you here, but we have a little issue. Come with me for a second.”
Damien wanted to complain about how he was using too many words for his exhausted brain to handle, but he got up and followed him instead. Ash limped to Damien’s room and opened the door, beckoning for Damien to look inside. When Damien peered inside, he was shocked beyond words. Sylvia was still laying on his bed, but she was only wearing her dark blue bra and underwear.
Damien turned to Ash. “This is not what it looks like.”
Ash’s eyes narrowed and he pointed a finger at Damien, the tip of his finger caught alight.
“Damien, this woman had better be gone by the time I get up again. And this had better never happen again. Or else.”
Damien replied with a small yes, too afraid to nod his head incase Ash’s burning finger burnt his head. The fire went out and Ash limped back to his room, slamming the door.
“That explains why Vander got so scary.” Damien said aloud, walking back into the living room. He saw Vander was in the kitchen, holding his head and groaning.
“The old man would be ashamed, knowing his own kin could get a hangover.” Damien teased, sitting on the couch.
“I was already half drunk when I got to the bar, I had a few with Ash so he’s stop complaining about his leg hurting. Three bottle of Vodka later, he was asleep. So, I heard Ashy saw your little friend.”
“Yeah, that happened,” Damien replied, flopping on the couch and resting his feet on the coffee table. “What’s his problem? Besides being gay.”
“Brother, do you forget I’m gay too?” Vander mumbled. “Anyway, Ash just doesn’t like really pretty girls.”
“No, you’re right. He likes really pretty boys.”
“I swear, I’ll cut your tongue out. Quit it.”
Damien raised his hands in a surrendering motion. “Sorry. Thinking out loud.”
“Stop thinking, it’s annoying.” [IF ANYONE CAN GUESS THIS REFERENCE I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER]
“Ouch, little brother.”
“Is it true what you said last night?” Vander asked, turning and looking Damien in the eye.
“About what?”
“That you haven’t gone on a job in ages.”
“That? Yeah.”
“Come on a job with me.”
“Hmm...no thanks.”
“I need a partner, and Ashy still can’t walk properly. Dam, I need you. This extermination job is gunna be big.”
“Well, if you need help, I’ll go.”
“Good. We leave in two hours.”
Damien could hear someone groaning, he turned to see Sylvia walking down the hall holding her head. She had apparently gone through Damien’s clothes, because she was wearing his Rolling Stones shirt.
“Man, my head,” She groaned. She stood in the entryway to the living room and looked up at Damien, then Vander, then Damien again. “Where am I? Why are there two Damien’s?”
“Twin brother.” Vander groaned.
“You were pissed last night and I wasn’t going to leave you there so I brought back here. Now please get dressed and off you go.”
“Yeah, about that, my clothes are covered in tequila and are still sticky so I won’t be getting dressed and I won’t be going just yet.”
“In that case, rest in peace Big Brother. You lived a good life.” Vander said dramatically.
“Don’t give up on me yet!” Damien gasped.
“Why will you be resting in peace?”
“His boyfriend his super gay and doesn’t want a girl here.”
“Damien, if Ash doesn’t kill you I will,” Vander warned. “Push my buttons again, I dare you.”
“Violent family,” Sylvia said. “I like it. Damien number two, you’ve just been promoted to my best friend.”
“My name is Vander, and thank you.” Vander replied.
Sylvia turned back to Damien. “If anyone has some shorts I can borrow, I’ll leave and you can live. For now.”
“Ash has a small waist, I’ll go see if he has any he doesn’t wear.” Vander said, walking back to his room. Damien wanted to listen in to see if Ash would be mad at Vander, but Sylvia began talking again.
“Thanks for bringing me to your place. Never thought I’d ever say that.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
“See? You are sweet on the inside.”
“So you remember about last night?”
“Yes, I just felt like playing the hungover heroine.”
Damien did a once over of Sylvia. She looked pretty good in his shirt, but it was more like a dress for her. Her hair was messy but it still looked alright. She was attractive. He couldn’t deny it.
“Stop checking me out.” Sylvia smiled. Damien noted that it was slightly crooked, and cute.
“Stop wearing my shirt.”
“Want me to walk around in my underwear?”
“You don’t hear me complaining.”
“You’re a lot flirty than I thought you were.”
“This is what flirting is?”
“So, that friend of yours. That’s going to help me. Is he in this house?”
“Maybe. Why do you ask?”
“Curious.”
Vander walked back into the living room with a pair of basketball shorts, which he handed to Sylvia.
“Ash pissed?”
“Not really. He’s been meaning to get rid of those for a while. Keep them.”
“Thanks Vander.” Sylvia smiled, slipped on the shorts and went back into Damien’s room to retrieve her high heels. When she slipped them on, she looked up at Damien.
“I’ll see you later then.”
“Sure. See you.”
“It was lovely meeting you Vander bear.” Sylvia smiled, standing up and walking towards the door.
“You too,” Vander said as she left. He turned to Damien and smiled. “She has the hots for you. Hard.”
