Continuing on from part one...

It's quiet as they both lay in silence, the dark room comforting as they don't have to look at each other and even though their bodies are touching, they've never felt so distant. Ivy can tell from the sound of his breathing that he's not sleeping and the fact he moves every few seconds like he's uncomfortable doesn't help, she wonders if this time they've both messed up so bad there's no going back. Nathan feels the warmth of her skin soothing him, the way her back moves as she breathes is a comfort too but he knows she's wide awake and deep in thought. For both of them it has been a confusing night, first they disagreed and then agreed to disagree, now things are strange though because for once they agree. In fact they agreed so much that the pair left a trail of clothes to the bedroom.

Ivy is the first to move, turning and sitting up holding the covers to her chest as she lets her hair hang down to cover her face. "Hey, everything okay?" Nathan asks moving in response to her, he also pushes himself up to sit glancing to the girl.

"Elena. I can't stop thinking about her..." she admits "I'm suppose to be her friend."

"Feeling guilty about it isn't going to help." Nathan replies, he places a comforting hand on her lower back and she sighs "It's all I feel at the moment, we keep doing this and she doesn't even know." she replies as he drops his hand knowing she won't relax. Nathan opens his mouth to speak but is stopped as the sound of the front door opening catches his attention, the sound of it slamming closed and footsteps make him forget the girl beside him.

Elena drops her bag in the hallway while her eyes follow the trail of clothing to the stairs, her husbands shirt and female jeans. In shock she continues into the living room, a phone on the coffee table is vibrating and she investigates. Coming to a stop before it the vibrating stops and then she notices the ring, she reaches for it as loud footsteps sound above her. It's over and she knows it as she stands there with the ring in her hand, tears spilling over her cheeks and her husband running over to explain himself.

"I-I can explain" Nathans first words don't surprise her.

"There's no need to, you've made it pretty clear" she nods with a small laugh, she's gone for six hours and he's sleeping with someone else. "I mean..." she holds up the ring as she turns to him, a smile on her face as she shows him. Nathan is stood in the doorway in his underwear, she can tell he's been drinking and had company.

Without a care in the world she drops the ring to the floor letting it roll under the sofa, it means nothing anymore. "It was pretty obvious we were kidding ourselves thinking this could work, I knew you would eventually realise that I wasn't what you wanted." she states.

"Hear me out." he asks.

"It's not worth it, you've been in love with her as long as I've known you." she replies with a knowing nod that makes his heart drop. "I-I don't know what you mean..." he lies as she wipes her tears with the back of her hand.

Elena sighs "Nate, you know what I mean and who I mean. Ivy's been there for a long time and I can't compete with her, she knows you more than I ever will."

"Ivy isn't here." he says with assurance but she shakes her head not wanting him to lie when she's trying to let him know that this is okay, as much as this hurts her it's okay and a small part of her has always known he never loved her. "Her car is outside, her phone is on the coffee table and her clothes are in the hallway." she nods.
