Acknowledgments
First and foremost, I want to thank God. With Him all things are possible.
I want to give a special thanks to my mother, Lisa Colon, we’ve been through a whole lot, and she has always been my light in my darkest moments. I know I was a handful as a child, but my mother made sure I was always on the right path to becoming a better person and I love her for that.
I’d like to shed some love for my two siblings, Francisco Pena and Crystal Pena, two of the best people I’ve had the privilege to be raised with.
And a huge thank-you for those who have supported my endeavors.

Prologue
Army Base in Kuwait City
1400 hours
A group of army soldiers lounged by the corridors of the United States Army base in Kuwait City. Both Sergeant Marcus White and Corporal Calvin Smalls approached the soldiers.
“It says here that there are six of you in my brigade but I only see five,” Marcus White barked, pointing at his clipboard.
Private Brandon Walker jogged out of the entrance doorway to the base to where the army men were located.
“I’m here, Sir. Private Brandon Walker, reporting for duty.”
“Good to see you made it,” White replied sarcastically.
“Listen up, men. I am Sergeant Marcus White and this is Corporal Calvin Smalls. My superiors for this mission handpicked you all. Personally, looking at your credentials I would have probably chosen otherwise. As of now, the details of our mission have not yet been divulged to me, but what I was told is that we must head to a small town south of here called Hafar Al Batin, and we will be updated about our mission when we are halfway there. I lead a tight-knit unit, and I expect everyone to follow my orders. At our disposal we have several vehicles and a decent amount of supplies to cover our mission. Any questions?”
The army men answered in sync: “No, Sir.”
“Then load up, we leave in an hour.”
Chapter I
Outside of Al-Jahra
1900 hours
“All I can think to myself as I sit in the passenger side of this Hummer is that I can’t believe this shit is happening to me. All I wanted was a steady paycheck and as soon as I decide to join the army, a war starts!”
