Chapter Fifty Four
Ah'Taria - Golden Palace Cafe

Lucas stared at his hand held re-reading the message that Kayla had sent him.  Hurry home someone has broken into the house.  I believe all the guards are dead, Maggie is unconscious, I have no idea where Pierre is and Easley, the children and I are in the baths.  Looking up from the hand held to Jacob he looked back down at the message again dumbfounded.

"Did you receive a message from Kayla," he asked puzzled.

Jacob tried not to laugh at the look on Lucas's face as he looked down at his hand held.  Quickly sobering he scowled at seriousness of the situation. "I'm assuming we are cutting the meeting short with Willis Nightingale?"

Lucas stared at him with a look of confusion, "Who is dumb enough to go to my home and kill my staff."    He stared blankly at the screen before rising, "Reschedule Nightingale I need to get to my family."

As he rose from his seat Willis rushed to the table bowing, "I'm sorry I'm late my lords."

Jacob stared blankly at the little green haired man, "Nightingale we need to reschedule something more important has come up."

Willis Nightingale wiped sweat from his brow as he stared at the two powerful Ah'Tarians. "I'm so sorry I'm late, my lords."  Watching as they both turned to leave he rushed on, "I have news that you would want to hear though!  I just received it," he exclaimed running behind him waving his hand held.

Lucas glared at him impatiently, "Do you believe this news can wait?"

Willis shook his head and stared beseechingly from Lucas to Jacob hoping they would understand his tardiness once he told them the new information that he'd just decoded.

Lucas nodded toward Jacob who firmly grabbed Willis's shoulder.  In annoyed tones Lucas continued, "We are in a hurry, Nightingale so you will be joining us at my home."  With those words they all appeared in Lucas's entryway.

Willis Nightingale had never seen the hikaru no sokudo performed nor ever thought it would be performed with him in tow.  One moment they had stood in the Snake Cafe in the middle of the city and now they were standing in the foyer of a grand home on the other side of the planet.  Bringing his handkerchief out he wiped the sweat from his brow and tried not to throw up.

Lucas pointed into the front parlor, "Wait for me in there," he stated as he strolled toward the baths.

Willis walked into the room and screamed as he saw the blood and carnage that dominated the room.  To his horror there were two dead Ah'Tarians with holes in their chest.

Jacob strolled into the room and frowned at the dead bodies of two of the guards, "Let's find another room for you to wait in Nightingale."  Leaving the front parlor he walked into the parlor where Kayla and the unknown man had fought.  Frowning he looked at the disaster stepped back out, closed the doors and walked into Lucas office.  Sighing and pointed toward the cluster of chairs in front of the fireplace that took up one wall, "Go sit there while I inspect the rest of the rooms."

Willis nodded his head as he sat down in one of the chairs trying not to run screaming from the house.  Pulling his hand held out he locked it as he waited patiently for Lucas and Jacob to return so he could tell them of his findings.

Jacob walked from one room to another looking at the dead bodies of the guards, frowning when he didn't see the bodies of the housekeeper, cook or nanny.  Walking toward the kitchens he could hear them speaking.

"Lord Lucas is going to be hopping mad when he comes home," said Maggie as she put ice against the swollen knot on her head.  "To think someone would try to rob him."
