"Code blue! Doctor Choi!" I yelled out as I was trying to revive a patient. I work at Chicago Med as an emergency physician. "Coming!" I heard Doctor Choi yell as he rushed to the room where I and other nurses were. Doctor Choi arrived and called for someone to grab a crash cart, which came quickly. A couple heart stopping, breath holding minutes later, the patient, a 35 year old man, was revived and put on oxygen. As soon as that was over, I joined Dr. Latham in another surgery. I have been working here for three weeks. This time, I assisted Dr. Latham in an open heart surgery on a 27 year old woman, who I assumed was the man's sister. Eight hours later, the surgery was over and the woman was in recovery in the room next to her brother.

After work, I drove home and took a shower. Then, I got in my pajamas and ate dinner. I looked at copies of past patients' records and studied..trying to further my knowledge of what to do in similar cases. As I studied and drank my chamomile tea, I got a call from my dad, who lives near and works in the city as a cop:

"Hey dad! How are you?" "Hey sweetheart! How's work going?" "It's great! How are you and K?" (K..who I'm not going to say either of my family members names in the story to keep confidentiality.....is my stepmom(my parents are divorced)). "We are great! Work is going great for both of us as well." "Would you and K like to join me for dinner tomorrow at Molly's?" "Of course!" We talked more about life in Chicago and in general, until 12 in the morning. "Listen, dad. It was great talking to you, but you and I both know that we have work in the morning" I said, laughing. He laughed and replied, "Ok, sweetheart. Rest up and have a great day tomorrow." I giggled and said, "I will". Then, I went to bed.
