Love At First Song?

It's been two weeks since winter break ended,Trinity walked down the halls of the middle school talking on the phone with her two friends,Jade and Ruby "All I'm saying is that it was a big test and I'm pretty sure that I got the questions all right." Trinity said with confidence, "you better have Trinity, we helped you study all week for this test." Jade sighed on the phone " you just gotta pick up that math grade of yours.." " Jade, Ruby...my grades are fine, promotion isn't till June I don't-" Trinity got cut off by Jade "don't you dare say that you don't have to worry about them right now! Grades are as important as the school tells you they are!" Trinity stood in silence and sighed "yeah...I guess they are important..." Ruby finally takes the phone and Trinity tells her "looks like high school changed your girlfriend..." "you know it's not like that Trin...and she's not my girlfriend." In the background Jade shouts out "not yet!" Trinity smiled a laughed a little "man..I wish I was at the high school with you guys...but instead I'm at the middle school all alone." "Well what about your friends in band?" Ruby asked " I wouldn't call them my friends ya'know, just people I talk to." The bell rings loud through the halls "well I guess I gotta go. We're still meeting up at Jenny park right?" "For sure kid." Jade said as she took her phone back from Ruby. "Alright see you guys later!" She hung up and smiled "time to go get that grade A test!"
She walked into her math class and sat at her seat near the back waiting for class to start. "Ok class I'm passing out your graded test, now most of you did better than expected, some of you did not do so well, but don't take it so hard I know this unit was pretty complicated." The teacher said as she went around and passed the test around. 'Come on, just give me my test already!' She thought to herself, finally her teacher put her test sheet on her desk "ok now here we go! My grade A-....what....an F?....but...I-I studied....how did I...?" She looked at the test "one out of twenty...you know what? Fuck that!" Trinity pulled her hood over her face and put her head on the desk 'I can't fuckin do anything right!'. The classroom phone rang then "Trinity, they need you in the guidance office." Her teacher tells her,  she stormed out and put her earbuds on and put it on a song that always seemed to calm her down.
She raced down the stair not paying attention of her surroundings and runs into someone, causing them both to fall, Trinity quickly got up and yelled out "Watch where you're going you-!" She looked down to see a girl with a scared look on her face "I-I'm sorry! Please don't yell! Y-you see I'm uh new here and I don't know where to go and I didn't see you and I just have no idea what I'm doing and I just-Ah! I'm sorry!" The girl panicked then Trinity took a deep breath and reached out her hand, "hey it's ok. Don't freak out, if anything I'm the one who should be apologizing." The girl looked up and grabbed her hand "o-ok." She smiled "I'm Ashley." , Trinity felt a light blush grow on her face "I-I'm Trinity." Smiling back Trinity couldn't help but notice Ashley's blue eyes "woah, your eyes are bluer than my friend Jades! Their like as blue as a crystal blue sea!" Ashley blushed and looked down shyly "thanks." Trinity glared down "your phone." The two girls said, they went down and grabbed each other's phones "That's...Pretty Odd." Trinity said as she looked at the phone "what's odd?" Ashley asked " well for one this isn't my phone, two that's the album "Pretty Odd" by Panic At The Disco, and three I'm listening to the same exact song from this album on my phone." Trinity smiled "no way!" Ashley put one of the earbuds that were connected to Trinitys phone in her ear, "In the middle of summer All was golden in the sky All was golden when the day met the night." The voice Brendon Urie sung the song in her ears and she smiled "wow finally I met someone that likes Panic At The Disco!" "You got a good taste in music Ashley, hey umm let me see your schedule." Trinity tells Ashley. Ashley hands Trinity her schedule and she looks at it "you have band for fourth period!?" "Yeah? Why?" Ashley asked "I have band fourth period too!...wait a minute how come I didn't see you in class?" Trinity said "well I was sorta kinda late.... ugh who am I kidding I was hella late, I got here right when lunch ended." Trinity smiled "come on, I'll take you to your class."
At the end of the day Trinity made her way to the front of the school to get her skateboard, when she walked into the little area where they keep the bikes and skateboards a group of people walked up to her "hey Rodriguez we heard that Kiara wants to fight you." One of the boys said "what the hell? Why?" Trinity asked " she said that you been acting like a little bitch." Another one said, Trinity sighed and turned to them "guys, I haven't talked to her since the beginning of the year. If you guys are trying to set me up in a random fight I'm not doing it."  "Why not? You've always been down for fights."  "Fights are a waste  of time, plus the principal said if I get into another fight I'd get expelled." She looked down "I have been in almost 6 fights this school year...I can't get into another fight." "Come on we're betting 5 bucks on you, each of us." " look I don't care you got that!" Trinity turned her head to spot Ashley waving near the gate "hey Trinity!" She smiled and left the group skating to Ashley "hey Ash." Ashley raised an eyebrow and smiled "Ash?"   "Yeah ya'know short for Ashley but I mean if you don't like it-" Ashley cuts her off "no I like it, it  just Ash reminds me of Ash Ketchum from Pokémon." Trinity turned to Ashley "you watch Pokémon?" She smiled and nodded "yeah ever since I was a kid I'd collect the cards and watch the anime." "Wow, you just keep getting better and better every time I talk to you. Oh um I heading to Jenny Park right now, wanna come with?" "Actually I gotta head home, maybe next week." Ashley answered Trinity's question as she pouted "aw man alright." She smiled " it was nice meeting ya Ash! We should hang out more on Monday." "Yeah! Same here." Trinity skated off as Ashley walked home.
At Jenny Park Ruby and Jade waited on the playground for Trinity "Hey Ruby look! No hands!!" Jade laughed as she hung upside down from the bars "your such a kid Jade." Ruby smiled softly "yeah but you love that about me." Jade told her as she pulled closer "you look like Spider-Man hanging upside down like that." "Do I? Heh I guess that makes you Mary Jane" Ruby pulled Jades red hood over her face "Yup! Now you really do look like Spider-Man!"  "Just kiss already guys!!" Trinity yelled out , Ruby froze up as her face turned a bright pink "damn it Trinity I was just about to!" Jade pulled her hood off as she sat straight up and jumped off the bar "dude honestly you been trying to kiss her for like a long ass time now." "She has!?" Ruby asked feeling embarrassed "I'm waiting for the perfect moment when her and I are ALONE!" "Ok ok how about this" Trinity turned around and covered her eyes " now you could do it!" Jade jumped off the platform of the playground and stood close in front of Ruby and looked at her, Ruby's face brighten with a light red, Jade hesitantly wrapped one hand on her waist , brushing her dark red hair behind her ear with the other then placing it on her cheek, she focus on her hazel brown eyes then her lips 'come on Jade you got this!' Trinity thought to herself until she heard Jade sigh with irritation "I cant do it!" Trinity turned to face her friends "it's cuz your trying to force it Jade, listen a kiss isn't something that you make happen it's something that just happens." Ruby nodded " I kinda go with what Trin is saying, Jade" Jade rubbed the back of her neck "yeah I guess your right, but Ruby and I never had our first kiss so we have no idea what we're doing." Trinity sat on the stairs of the playground " like I said it happens when it happens, you don't think you just do." "So how'd you're day go?" Ruby asked hoping to get off the subject "um it was alright I guess, I mean I bombed the test if your asking about that..." Trinity looked down waiting for her friends to lecture her about her failing grade on the test "you gonna retake it right?" Jade asked as she looked down at her "y-yeah. I will, just gotta talk to the teacher about it." She sighed "Other than that there's this new girl at school and she's pretty cool. Her name is Ashley and she's in band! And she's really funny." "Looks like someone finally found a friend." Ruby told her "heh yeah, and she has the bluest eyes I ever seen!" "Bluer than mine?!" Jade asked "heh yeah...she's really pretty too." Trinity blushed a bit a looks down "Oooooh I know what that means!!" Jade shouted "Trinity be crushin on the new girl!!!" Ruby added "I'm not crushing on Ashley!! I just met her today!" "Yeah but it could be love at first sight." "Or love at first song?" Trinity looked at the girls then at Jade "love at first song?" "Yeah, ya'know the song you and that person first listen to." "Ooh I get it now!" "See kid, you teach me something ,I teach you." "So were you two listening to a song together?" Ruby asked "Well I was listening to a song when I ran into her...literally. Cuz I was running down the stairs and I didn't see what I was doing and well I bumped into her, we grabbed each other's phone and I saw that she was listening to the same song I was." Trinity answered "what song was it?" Jade asked "When The Day Met Night..." Trinity mumbled "what?" The girls asked "When The Day Met The Night!" She shouted with a red face "the girls stayed silent for a minute "Oh my god! That's song!?" "Dude you two are like meant to be! She likes your favorite band! And she's everything you been looking for in a girl!" "Aw whatever guys...like I said I only known her for like a day." Trinity sighed I looked at them " I know I haven't been in a relationship for a long time now since I came out." "Does she know?" Ruby asked "that I'm a lesbian? No!" Trinity got up and shouted "You saw what happened when I came out to that girl I was friends with in 7th grade!"  "But are you gonna tell her?" Jade asked "come on I just met her guys." Trinity sighed again and sat back down "I don't even know what her favorite color is." "So? I don't even know Ruby's favorite color." "You got her a bouquet of purple flowers the night of promotion." Trinity tells Jade "but that doesn't mean their her favorite color. Ruby what's your favorite color?" Jade turned and asked Ruby "purple." She quickly answered "look Trinity just give it awhile and you'll for sure know or whatever." Ruby said as she looked down at her phone " anyway I gotta head home, walk me Jade?" "Yeah sure!" "See you later Trin. " Ruby said "see ya kid." Jade said as patted her shoulder.
Trinity skated home thinking about what Jade said 'Love at first song?' She chuckled "I'll believe when I see it....or in this case feel it."
