Okay so this is my first time writing anything in a very long time , very very very very very long time lol. But it's a start to getting the skills that I once had back so I will definitely love feedback , suggestions, your input is valuable (: This first half is not that interesting but I promise part two will be but you have to start somewhere right? So please leave comments with suggestions and your feedback .
“Dahlia, I’d love it if you would smile for once.” my mom said sarcastically. My twin sister, Dalila and I were taking pictures for our graduation party banner that my mom would hang at the entrance of our house. “ Cheese.” I said flashing her my pearly whites. “ Great, now can I go mom?” Dalila was never in the house on a Saturday morning , it was either the mall or Tanger Outlet with her cheerleader friends or boyfriend Kendall. “ Dalila don’t forget your father wants you here by 7 for dinner , he leaves soon for his last deployment.” my mother reminded her as Dalila gave my mom a quick peck and shouted “ I’ll be there.” as she ran down the stairs to the front door. “ So Dahlia, what do you have planned this Saturday?” my mom was always telling me to get out the house to experience being a teenager while I still had the chance. I was nothing like Dalila, she was the outgoing, happy go lucky , outspoken twin. Me on the other hand , I was content, I stayed in “my dungeon” says my father but my room has everything that I need; so I never have the need to leave the house. Unless my my best friend, Kamilah dragged me out to some party or get together, which was exact case this Saturday morning. “ Kamilah is coming by at 11 , she wants to go to Tanger Outlet and a few stores to find a dress to wear for the graduation ceremony , I guess I’ll try to find something too since I’ll already out.” I said while walking to the bathroom to wash my face of the ridicules make up my sister applied to my face this morning for the photos. I could feel my moms presence behind so I wiped my face off and turned around to face her. “ Yes?” I said hoping she had a reason for staring at me like a deer in headlights. “ Dahlia, I’ve noticed ever since your father got orders to Kuwait your whole demeanor shifted. If he could be here for your graduation you know he would.” my mom was so concerning she , came through the bathroom door to place a hand on my shoulder. “ Just remember what he always told you, when duty calls to protect his girls he had to go be our superman.” she left the bathroom and headed down the hallway to her room. She was right I was angry that he wouldn’t be attending our graduation. My dad and I we were best friends, he always understood me and frankly he and I always had a better relationship than my mother and I. Last weekend when he told us at dinner , it shattered my heart. He was planning on retiring from the Marine Corps the following year. I dropped the subject and headed downstairs to my bedroom and as soon as I reached the door of my room the doorbell rang. I looked down at galaxy in my hand and noticed it was only 10:13 and Kamilah was usually late so I didn’t rush to prepare myself. I still had on the crazy ball grown that my mom made me wear for the photos and I really didn’t want to answer the door with it on. I guess the person at the door could see me because they knocked this time and I saw the shift in the shadow. I walked to the door and opened it to an unfamiliar face which is a big deal here seeing as we stayed in a little county in Georgia and everyone knew everyone and their grandma. “ Yes, can I help you?” I asked
I was lost for words, maybe the move wasn’t such a bad idea. “Umm, yes I came to introduce myself I’m Aiden Romoano , I just moved into the house beside you.” She was beyond beautiful. Hold on what am I doing , my girlfriend is only a couple yards away in the house we just rented together. “ Oh , um I’m Dahlia Khan, and nice to meet you Mr.Romoano.” her voice matched her beauty, heavenly music . She didn’t look too old either maybe a few years younger than me, her brown skin was beautiful and the white strapless dress complimented her well. I hope she doesn’t notice me checking her out. “ No please I’m only 21 you can call me Aiden.” I said offering my hand as she met it with an amazing smile. “ Alright then Aiden , nice meeting you.”
As I walked back to my house I felt like a dog but I couldn’t help it she was gorgeous . “ Aiden , baby how are the neighbors did they seem stuck up because this looks like that type of neighborhood.” Miya knocked me out of my trace “ Umm, no baby , no she seemed very nice and we just got here less than an hour ago give the new surrounding a chance.” Miya was from Detroit and I met here at a bachelor party that was held for my brother, she was the bartender. All Miya knew was condemned buildings , snobby rich people because she worked in a upscale hotel and was not fond of leaving when I told her I had orders to Georgia. I was now an official United States Marine recruiter. I was assigned to 3 high school in the Rockdale - Conyers area, Rockdale, Salem, and Heritage. “ Who am I speaking with because the Aiden flying down here and driving through Atlanta couldn’t wait till these 3 years were up so we could go to California.” Miya said in her northern accent that I loved but she was right. Right up until I met Dahlia I already wanted to go back to Detroit, it was something about her that I wanted to put my finger on but knew it wasn’t the right thing to do seeing as he was in a unstable commitment with Miya. The only reason she came along was because she was tired of working as a bartender and would spend this time going to the Univeristy of Georgia to what she says “ fulfill her life dream” of becoming a preschool teacher. Hard to belive seeing as she didn’t have the patience to teach her nephew his ABC’s before she gave up and sat him in front of ABC Mouse. But who am I to judge or doubt her abilities. “ I like the house and the area doesn’t look that bad , your just not use to not being around the gunshots, the silence is probably what bothers you.” I said jokingly. “ Ha, Ha, Ha , you think your funny don’t you?” she said throwing a pillow out of the back of the U-Haul truck that hit me in the face.
